Wouldnt even come close to calling it a steal. Worth a chance, yes, depends on what you are trying to get him for. If you need a returner than this it is a good deal. If you are expecting him to be a receiver then probably wont work out very well. Ginn is not an NFL caliber reciever. You might be able to put him on the field a few downs and run the deep ball and use him as a gimmick guy but as a true reciever he is a liability. He has always been an athlete with raw receiving skills that never amounted to much. Glad we passed. I think our front office knows as far as ginn the receiver goes we can do a lot better!

So I guess you are proving my point even more then. Ginn never had a “good” QB.

Plus his average per catch was 13 yards. With 36 catches, that is just over 2 catches per game. Additionally, he had some runs in there too (end arounds usually result in 0 yards or first downs, and he had quite a few yards). So lets say he averaged 3 first downs a game. That is in addition to being one of the top 10 return men in the NFL.

Everytime he got a touch, he got a first down. That’s pretty good.

Thaak

Reply to Ted Ginn, Jr. on Fri, 16 Apr 2010 19:20:27 GMT

@<bdi>thaak</bdi> said:
If you were told that you would draft a WR in the 5th round, and you’d get 36 catches for 460 yards a season, you’d be ecstatic.

Thats exactly what i was saying i never said that he would be our slot reciever or make a good slot reciever, come on man. Anyhow we could use some speed at the reciever posistion but not with ginn, we can do a lot better. Ginn doesnt scare anybody. The dolphins didnt even use him as a home run threat last year and they didnt have a great recieving core to begin with. By the end of the year bess, camarillo, and hartline, yes hartline were all playing over him. Now that the phins have marshall too he has become their 5th best reciever. 1. First off, I am The Gipper. There is another "patron" (using The Masters required terminology) here who calls himself "Gips". So as not to confuse best to keep me as The Gipper.

2. Maybe I did mix up your post with another....but apparently we can both agree that Ginn would not be a slot receiver.

3. As for Ginn not scaring anybody....I would beg to differ. The guy does have blazing speed, and that should be "scary" enough. We don't have anyone on this team with that kind of speed. You say we can do better if we are looking for speed. I say: Where? Who is out there either in the draft or in trade or as a FA who has his kind of speed? I certainly would like to know....and you might want to tell the Browns about it as well.

4. We can agree that Ginn has not been productive enough in his career. You said the Dolphins didn't use him as their home run hitter. I would say that is certainly on the Dolphins shoulders and perhaps they have misused or miscoached him. Perhaps. You say that he needs to catch as well. I agree. I don't know why he hasn't "caught". He caught in college. He showed flashes of brilliance. Perhaps he has had some Braylonitis. That disease is hopefully curable....to the point that I still think it is worth an effort to get him at a low price.

The Gipper

Reply to Ted Ginn, Jr. on Wed, 14 Apr 2010 21:21:15 GMT

Here ya go.
