The difference as I see it is that Carr was in the same boat as Tim Couch: the first pick of a paper team. His success was virtually doomed from the day he was taken because he was the cornerstone of an expansion team. Expansion teams are going to take 5-6 years to be worth anything, and taking that QB with the first pick of the franchises draft is a sure formula for failure. Had McNabb been picked here, he may have suffered the same fate as Couch, and if Couch had been taken by an established team he may well have been a star. Alex Smith was taken by an established team, not an expansion team. He has failed to grab that job by the throat.

The Gipper

Reply to 20 years worth of odds on Sat, 17 Apr 2010 14:27:57 GMT

@<bdi>mopaji</bdi> said:
You are all missing the point. If the Browns traded up to get Bradford (which I HIGHLY doubt will happen), I would be infuriated!!! Remember this too... the Browns publicly came out and said they talked to the Rams about the first pick.. that doesn't mean 10 other teams didn't contact the Rams either... the media is making a big deal of this, when it really isn't a big deal at all. Why not contact them and see what's up.. no harm done.

585Dawg

Reply to 20 years worth of odds on Fri, 16 Apr 2010 14:20:44 GMT

leftwhich wasn't a bust. he was decent. carr and couch however, are.

ClevelandFanForLife

Reply to 20 years worth of odds on Fri, 16 Apr 2010 14:14:53 GMT

Add Heath Shuler to the complete bust list.

The Gipper
