The penalty should have been more severe. It was just a down-right dirty play. Jake could have been seriously injured but I was glad to see him pop right up and not lay around on the ground for 15 minutes like todays athletes like to do. All of that being said I wish we had Suh!!

bomber77

Reply to Suh reaction from Delhomme hit on Fri, 03 Sep 2010 15:47:25 GMT

Detroit Lions rookie Ndamukong Suh fined $7,500 for slamming Browns QB Jake Delhomme

The real question is: why are you getting your panties in a bunch defending him. The guy committed a personal foul, he got called for it. He may get called on the carpet again for it. Maybe not. So be it. If he continues that behavior the other NFL players will engage in what they call "self-corrective measures" by probably going for the dudes needs.

In other words, I essentially agree with you. The Browns could use a guy like him. Nevertheless, if a player commits a cheap shot like this and causes the team harm with a penalty...and a possible suspension (though I doubt that would happen) he has to be called on it.

I'm not going to go out and say Jake's the greatest. And yes, I'm going to mention preseason. He has been great this preseason:

38/48 (79.2% completion) and a 110.5 qb rating.

He has also been passing the ball around to our less than stellar WR's. He has been able to throw to 10 different receivers in a half.

Granted yes, preseason, but if the trend continues I think he'll be a "damn good" qb this season. But all I'm hoping for is him to be a good one (minus the damn).

AND... I would not be happy if we had a d lineman who plays dirty. That's the exact kind of thing we're trying to get away from, STUPID penalties. We already have a bad enough D and turn the ball over enough. We don't need to be giving up 15 yards for free.

AND... I'm pissed that our O line didn't back Jake up. I saw no one stand beside Jake after that.

USFBrown

Reply to Suh reaction from Delhomme hit on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 05:42:49 GMT

Formerly Stone said:
If a player of this mindset played for the Browns, he would be a hero in Cleveland!

To some maybe, but not to most. And don't tell me they're wouldn't be some backwater Steeler fans who wouldn't think it was just hunky-dory if one of your guys pulled the same stunt on an opposing qb.

Suh's gonna learn what goes around, comes around. Like chop & crackback blocks. He's a smart kid- once he starts getting fined, he'll learn to tone down his act.

And times have changed- if anyone pulled the Turkey Jones head spike done on Bradshaw today, they'd get suspended 4 games minimum, plus a max fine.

hoorta

Reply to Suh reaction from Delhomme hit on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 02:14:23 GMT

@<bdi>gips</bdi> said:
Jake is a classy guy and a dam good QB i hope carolina really regrets letting him go this year...
