He's still a rookie. We had no shot at him.

The guy I would be worried about is Jamaal Charles. He's the real threat. He can take it to the house on any play. Tremendous game speed.

Earl34

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 20:03:37 GMT

@<bdi>atenears</bdi> said:
It will be interesting focusing on Eric Berry & T.J.

We obviously not only would have been drafting the best athlete on the board HAD ERIC BERRY BEEN STILL ON THE BOARD, but also would have been drafting a position-of-need, as we still took a safety(s) in that draft.

I liked Berry, but at the same time was a little curious about his weak finish at Tenn. Today? Today I am kind of viewing Berry as a Courtney Brown type ... maybe over-billed, a great kid, but maybe doesn't have the tiger in his belly everyone thought. It would be the first time in the new era if we lucked out and got the better safety in Ward. Let's hope so.

ATENEARS

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 19:41:56 GMT

@<bdi>wrrebel</bdi> said:
Imagine if we had both of them..

Don't they both essentially play the same position however? If we had gotten Berry, the Browns would not have selected another safety again that early, would they?

As it is, they did take 2 safeties. Ward and Asante.

The Gipper

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Sat, 18 Sep 2010 12:52:44 GMT

Ward most certainly has not disappointing thusfar, and i dont think berry has been disappointing for KC either...regardless of what heckert has said i still think we would have took berry if he were there at 7 but he had ward earmarked if berry was gone and the way ward is playing it may have been a stretching reach to have moved up to get berry...

Gips

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 18:31:56 GMT

I went back and edited my comment when you were posting Zombo, ATE used the word "instead", kinda implying that we had some sort of choice in the matter. Are you implying that we could have had Berry somehow? He was gone off the board when we drafted at 7. You used the word "instead" when we took Ward in round 2, but there was no instead. You say your not complaining. Well, I hope not, cause we had no chance to get him in the first place.

Dave

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 18:07:38 GMT

I read on one of them scouting sites that they ranked Ward ahead of Berry based on first games performance. We may have gotten the best Safety and the best CB in the draft.

CB's are more valuable to a team and Haden has looked the part so far, If we could go back and had a choice between the too, I would still go Haden over Berry. Then you add that we could draft a stud like Ward in the second and it really makes the choice easy.

CLEVELandMILIDH

Reply to Eric Berry Returns on Fri, 17 Sep 2010 16:38:22 GMT

Imagine if we had both of them..
