I see the problems of this teams offense as an absolutely toxic mix of bad coaching and particularly bad repetitive playcalling and design that does not mix things up enough, theres simply not enough proper or creative on the fly player substitution or WR route changing to create doubt and it allows defenses to literally key in on our playmakers with little or no fear of retribution combined with too many non impact players and or under/wrongly utilized players due to the coaches player frustrating even spirit breaking way of determining who plays from week to week or even play to play...simply put he either dislikes certain players or does not trust them or both and the bottomline is it hurts everything including the OCs playcalling and even his on the fly substitution options...

Our playcaller fails to be creative maybe partially because mangini makes him stick to a gameplan and a set of personnel and maybe not, but thats what i keep coming up with anyways, and because of this dabs may find it hard to freely add variation and operate like an OC should be able to...we know the jets OC brian shottenslimer complained to tannenbaum quite often about mangini strangulating and modifying his offense gameplans and playbook and even player substitutions and once farve was forced on mangini the coach pushed brian into modifying his playbook to suit farves pocket passer style which turned out to be a disaster and the likely straw that led to mangini being canned, so we know mangini likes to control every aspect of the game which also leads us to why mangini most likely brought a newbie OC to cleveland knowing full well we needed a pro OC...CONTROL! but along with that full control comes full blame and he doesnt want any part of that and has done a good job of lining daboll up for slaughter...

While he has fooled a lot of over optimistic sheeple fans...i doubt he has fooled holmgren unless holmgren is going to play along in the hope and prayer that mangini can actually learn to coach as a leader instead of a control freak and if thats the case the browns are cooked for 5 more years minimum...and in the beginning mangini has a huge 4 year history of rather shabby to mediocre coaching plus both player and assistant distrust and dislike in him and his methods not to mention jets fans hate him and in the end he has over a year of the same kind of charades here in cleveland...

The players will not speak up nor anyone associated directly to the organization for obvious reasons and sheeples should be aware that you cant always believe what you here but i see the problem as what it is, poor coaching in general...

The truly good coaches find ways to win with what they have and that means mixing things up and adjusting the gameplan and personnel on the fly if and when needed our coach seems to think the QB isnt the most important position and that you can get the ball to 4 player all day and win...just bad coaching plain and simple...

To many limitations and even expectations under those limitations being placed on everyone to feel fear free and self motivated and to just have fun while playing to win...mangini is to busy playing to lose...

Coaching is a profession of love. You can't coach people unless you love them.

But the Browns just continue to do what worked.

I can't believe they don't run screens very often. but, at least Dabol grew the nads to actually call a screen now.

Braylon wouldn't have been drafted as the Browns #1 wr, if they had been drafting for CHARACTER back then.

Unless the Browns work a trade for a bigtime wr, they'll nab one in the draft, first round next year, I suppose.

calfoxwc

Reply to Where is Flugel and his weak 40-times? on Thu, 23 Sep 2010 14:22:22 GMT

@<bdi>jrb12711</bdi> said:
For me, I think right now it's equal blame between the offensive play calling and the lack of WR skill.

When I was watching the browns game sunday, I was sitting with a fellow fan down here in Charlotte and we were literally calling what offensive play we'd be running before the snap. I'd say we were right on the money about the play 35-40% of the time. Now I played football and when it comes to plays and everything i'm not dumb, but I'm clearly nowhere near the level of NFL personnel. If me as a casual fan can call out what the exact play we're going to run a little less than half the time, I don't even want to know how much a defensive coordinator sees the play coming. If that doesn't change we'll never score more than 14-17 points a game.

Kosar made a very valid point in stating that the Coaches Scheme has been pretty decent to start the games, but once the opponent makes adjustments to counter the scheme, we don't have the personnel to over match anyone one-on-one. As he stated, It is difficult or nearly impossibly to out-scheme someone for an entire game. At some point the personnel need to gain an upper hand.

ATENEARS

Reply to Where is Flugel and his weak 40-times? on Thu, 23 Sep 2010 14:03:59 GMT

For me, I think right now it's equal blame between the offensive play calling and the lack of WR skill.
