I know he won the challenge and then Mangini accepted the penalty but it seemed like a moot point from the start.

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 14:34:53 GMT

He wanted to keep the 7 yards difference or he had a serious brain fart.

longhorn

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 02:09:52 GMT

He needed some kind of momentum....he was getting outcoached...

The ref said you can not challenge a fumble, the challenge never actually happened.

Harry Buffalo

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 01:27:13 GMT

@<bdi>bjh2130</bdi> said:
My mistake I was confused by the whole situation.

2:24 - Saints win the challenge and go for it.

2:21 - Now the Saints will challenge that Colston was down by contact to regain the yardage. Clearly, a 4th-and-short attempt will result from a successful challenge.

2:20 - The same rule applies as early. The play is not reviewable since the officials said Colston recovered the fumble. Why did it take 2 minutes to figure that out?

Watch it again.

Earl34

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 01:04:15 GMT

No after the referee talked to Mangini to see what he wanted to challenge he came out and said Cleveland is challenging the rule on the field that the receiver was down by contact.

No...Mangini was trying to challenge recovery of a fumble. That is not reviewable. THEN, Payton challenged the fumble to gain three yards. It was Payton's challenge. Mangini was not allowed to challenge. Nice try.

Earl34

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 00:57:12 GMT

Mangini had just as questionable of a challenge when he challenged Colston down by contact allowing New Orleans to go for it on a hsort 4th and 1 rather than kick a field goal on 4th and 4

bjh2130

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 00:51:09 GMT

His defense needed a breather

CLEVELandMILIDH

Reply to Sean Payton's Challenge of Stuckey Play on Mon, 25 Oct 2010 00:44:37 GMT

I loved the head shake after the Browns excepted the penalty.
