This is looking like a fantastic pick with each passing week because he is getting markedly better as the season goes on. If we can get someone on the offensive side of the ball (wide receiver) that can have the same type of impact Joe has had then I would say that would be another tremendous selection on Heckert's part.

Ha how many players do we have now that used to be QB's. Having players like that just opens up the ability to use trick plays on offense and special teams which is great, plus that past experience does wonders for players who play WR or DB. If Haden didn't have that QB experience he might not be anywhere near as good as he is right now and that is also why I think Cribbs is only going to keep getting better at WR because with his past QB experience he knows how to read the gaps in opposing defenses.

If you don't believe me just look at Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes who broke the NCAA all time reception record last year. was a QB throughout high school and his freshman year at BG and switched the WR. The guy only runs a 4.6 but was able to read gaps in the defense allowing him to trail off his route by a few yards allowing him to get wide open for on average 13 catches a game.

Harry Buffalo

Reply to Joe Freakin' Haden on Wed, 08 Dec 2010 06:00:36 GMT

Also, if anyone hasn't heard about the latest twitter craze, you should check it out.

Well, we have a #1 corner now. And I was happy as a clam when the Browns took Joe with that pick. The BPA at the biggest position of need. Barring Al Davis' craziness of drafting punters and kickers in the first round, if you can get Pro Bowl talent at ANY position in the first round, you've done well. Dez was an attitude risk, and now he's out for the year with a wrecked foot.

OK, I'm with you that we need a true #1 wr badly. But I think you can agree- without Joe in the lineup, the Browns would have lost to the Dolphins. You need those stud CBs to cover those stud WRs. Might be a bit early, but are we seeing the second coming of Frank Minnifield with Joe?

However, I can't see taking another CB in the first round next year as some have posited- it's AJ Green if he's there, or Julio Jones if he's not. Actually, I wouldn't mind Nick Fairley, but he'll be long gone by the time the Browns draft 12-15 or so.

hoorta

Reply to Joe Freakin' Haden on Tue, 07 Dec 2010 19:22:11 GMT

Got to watch him in person... and he had a spectacular game. Is it bad that I am greedy and want Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara to pair with him? I want AJ Green but that would be a nasty CB combo for years to come.

ClevelandBigDawg

Reply to Joe Freakin' Haden on Mon, 06 Dec 2010 22:15:46 GMT

@<bdi>brownsbacker</bdi> said:
I agree, however Jake did play pretty decent today and we got our 2nd straight win out of him. Oh, and JOE FREAKIN' HADEN!

We didn't win because of Jake. We won in spite of Jake.

I do like how he is including Robo, though. But I've never seen a QB take so long to throw to a checkdown receiver. The only exception is Roethlisberger, and at least he's shrugging off tackles and extending plays. Jake just sits in the pocket and waits. And waits. And waits. And waits. And throws to Hillis.

Is it because our receivers can't get seperation? Probably. Is it because the playcalling is predictable and bland? Maybe. Is it because we lack a legitimate deep threat? Of course.

At least with Colt, the defense had to respect his scrambling ability. Which helped the receivers out.

Tim Couch Pulls Out
