I don't know if it hurts him. Leslie Frazier was one of those guys who got what you might call several of those "token" interviews. Yet in them he impressed people....to the point now that he is the full time coach of the Vikings. The same thing happened to Lovie Smith.

Both the union and NFL management are on board for a rookie wage scale. It has little to do with the 'poor economic climate'. The question will be what to do with the money saved. The union, naturally, wants that money to go to proven veterans. The ownership is reluctant to guarantee that it all go to player salaries.

There is a salary cap now, the only question is how to distribute that money within the cap: to overpriced unproven rookies, or to proven veterans.

The issue of what to pay the coach has noting to do with that.

The Gipper

Reply to The Dreaded Rooney Rule on Fri, 07 Jan 2011 14:00:31 GMT

It is a pretty pathetic rule. Will Rooney be satisfied when every personnel and player is black? If ANYTHING there should be a interview for white players during the draft. God knows how many other Hillis' and wide receivers there are out there that will never be given the chance. Blacks dominate the sports scene, they certainly don't need assistance in the hiring department, too. Rooney, what a white guilt ridden moron.
