They were 7-6, meaning they'd be more like Northwestern even Michigan, or Penn State. Indiana finished last in the Big 10, and don't act like it's so much better than the Big 12...

I'd say it's more like Indiana in the sense the kind of talent it can push out to the NFL every year. Baylor was very fortunate to see two of their players taken in the first round this year. Every few years you see a guy from Baylor in the first and the same thing goes for Indiana.

Harry Buffalo

Reply to Every Pick - Knows How To Explain Himself, Loves Footbal on Sun, 01 May 2011 20:35:51 GMT

@<bdi>hoorta</bdi> said:

Corecto. They played the big boys- Texas, Oklahoma, TCU. Not very well though. They'd probably be the equivalent of Indiana if they were in the Big 10.

Baylor isnt a small school though. Big 12 school. Maybe if he played for a MAC WAC or SWAC school I could see people questioning, but Baylor is a top half big 12 school

Yep. That's really cool. I love these picks.

Here's some stuff on Taylor:

With the 21st-overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select defensive tackle Phil Taylor. Taylor was welcomed on stage by Madden ’12 coverboy Peyton Hillis.

The Browns completed a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to move back up in the first round to select the Baylor big man, a Senior Bowl standout known for his interior run defense. Concerns are that Taylor is more of a 3-4 nose tackle (338 pounds), but this could also be said for teammate Athyba Rubin. Scouts feel Taylor has very strong two-gap power, but Browns fans may throw fits because he’s not from a big school. This year’s TJ Ward, perhaps?

For what it’s worth, the move cost the Browns a third-round draft choice to move up from 27 to 21.

BEREA, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns introduced their new NFL draft pick, Baylor's Phil Taylor, during a late afternoon news conference on Friday.

The event was supposed to take place earlier in the day, but Taylor's plane was delayed in getting to Cleveland.

"When I came here on my visit, it felt like home. I wanted to be a Brown. When they called, it was like a dream come true," said Taylor.

He said he's ready to get on the practice field.

"I love to win, I hate to lose. I'm going to come in here ready to work and do what I got to do to play," he said.

After making two trades, the Cleveland Browns selected Baylor defensive tackle Phil Taylor with the 21st pick in the NFL Draft last night, a run stopper for their new 4-3 defensive alignment. The Browns first swapped the sixth overall pick with Atlanta, acquired four others from the Falcons, including the Number 27 pick and then swapped that pick and a third-rounder with Kansas City to get Taylor, a 6-foot-3, 330-pounder

calfoxwc

Reply to Every Pick - Knows How To Explain Himself, Loves Footbal on Sun, 01 May 2011 03:55:31 GMT

Yep.
Missed one, Phil Taylor is friends with Norwood (Norwoods father was also Taylors coach at Baylor) and he played football against Joe Haden in DC.

Harry Buffalo
