Historically, the Browns are awful in season openers. The team is 1-11 in Week 1 games since returning to the NFL in 1999. The Chris Palmer era, Butch Davis era, Romeo Crennel era and Eric Mangini era all got off to losing starts.

Let's hope Shurmur and crew can get it done. 1-11 is turrrible...

Reply to Browns Struggle In Season Openers on Sat, 10 Sep 2011 01:44:49 GMT

@<bdi>hoorta</bdi> said:

Actually they are, but then again Steeler fans were never very good at math. 1-11 = .090 winning percentage. Since 1999, the Browns winning percentage is a tad better than that- not by much I'll grant you.

Giving the keys to Holmgren has changed the attitude of this team in just one year.

You must be sad that there isn't a good Steelers fan board.

Loyalty

Reply to Browns Struggle In Season Openers on Thu, 08 Sep 2011 19:54:29 GMT

@<bdi>usfbrown</bdi> said:

Yea, and in one of them they lost after the game was already over...on the Dwayne Rudd celebration where he took his helmet off.

Somehow, I don't think you have ever seen that penalty ever called again. I think the league saw the complete injustice of that call and told its refs to cool it on calling a meaningless penalty like taking your helmet off where it would decide who won or lost the game.

The Gipper

Reply to Browns Struggle In Season Openers on Thu, 08 Sep 2011 17:09:59 GMT

@<bdi>usfbrown</bdi> said:

I agree. But there is something different about this team this year. They have a plan in place and everyone from the President to the players seem to be on the same page. It also helps that we are playing the worse team in the league with a rookie QB.

Thomaspro
