Call this "College Bowl" Trivia as it is all about colleges...including several 'non-sports' questions. Nevertheless, give it a try. You may notice a bit of syllogism to the answers:

1. Per the 2011 rosters, which 5 colleges have the most players on NFL rosters?

2. Since 1869 which 2 schools have won the most number of Division 1 college National Championships?

3. Of the major US "National Universities" (as defined by US News and World Report) which 2 schools are tied with having the highest 4 year graduation rate with 90% each?

4. Since the "Poll Era" began in 1936, which 2 schools have won the most Division 1 National Championships?

5. Which 2 schools have won the most FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) national championships since the playoffs began in that division in 1978?

6. Not counting very small specialty colleges, which 2 colleges or Universities in the US are the most selective in choosing who attends those schools, accepting only 7% of the applicants?

7. The NACDA (College Athletics Director's Assn.) Director's Cup is awarded to the School in each Division which has the most success in college athletics. It awarded to the school that gets the most points in a system that covers all sports, men's and womens throughout the entire school year. For the 2010-2011 school year, which were the Top 3 Division 1 schools in this ranking?

8. Throughout the history of NCAA Division 1 sanctioned intercollegiate sports, which 3 schools have won the most number of National Championships in all sports?

9. Since 1939 which 4 schools have won the most NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball National Championships?

10. Per Forbes magazine what are the Top 5 most beautiful college campuses in the World?

11. US News and World Report ranks, academically, the top "National Universities." Which state has the most schools in USNWR's Top 50 of this ranking?

12. USNWR also ranks, academically, the top "Liberal Arts" Colleges in the US. Which state has the most schools in the Top 50 of this ranking?

Completely Esoteric and Egocentric Bonus Question: My son, a junior in college, is apparently some kind of star in his field of Biology. He has obtained internships and won awards and has now apparently been chosen as the single student rep on a panel to hire new faculty in the biology department at his school (which by the way is amongst the answers to one of the above questions). He of course wants to go on to a top, top grad school in his field, so I have done some research in this area.

The question is: Again, according to USNWR, what are the 4 best Graduate schools in Biology in the US?

Yea, a lousy school that Stanford. They are only ranked like the 5th or 6th best school academcially in the nation, up there with Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Cal Tech.

And they have only proven to have had the best overall athletic program in the nation for 17 straight years.

And they only have the Top Graduate program in the nation in the sciences.

And they only have won the second most National Championships in all sports in history.

And now they only have the guy that is the Heisman Frontrunner and slam dunk for overall #1 NFL draft pick.

And they are only ranked number 7 in the nation right now....with the probability of climbing and also possibly playing for the BCS National Championship.

And they only have some of the best weather in the country there. No harsh winters, no hot humid summers.

And the campus is only considered to be one of the Top 5 most beautiful in the world.

I guess the only downside is that they are apparently the most exclusive college in the country to get into....with all that going for them no wonder.

And, they are on my kids radar for going there for grad school. So I guess it would be a sweet deal for him if he makes it.

The Gipper

Reply to Bye Week Trivia...college Bowl on Fri, 07 Oct 2011 19:52:33 GMT

Extra Bonus question: One of the schools mentioned often in the above trivia set is likely to have the #1 overall player taken in next years college draft.
