Anyway, have you ever seen Hillis break off a run like DeAngelo Williams?

What about Steve Smith's TD catch.

This is what offensive weapons look like.

Meh. The videos aren't up on youtube yet.
Guys, please, separate your emotions from reality for a moment.

Bitch all you want but he averages 3.6 yards per carry. There is nothing outstanding about this man OTHER THAN, he is the best back the Browns have had since Droughns. That isn't a high enough standard. We need the kind of back who scares defenses and makes them account for him. Hillis doens't scare anyone, well, he scares me because I keep having this nightmare that he gets signed to a 5-year, big money deal.

Do you guys even understand how trading goes in teh NFL? NOBODY is going to trade jack shit for Hillis because his talent at a YOUNGER coup, can readily be found in the 3d and 4th rounds of the draft.

Given he is going to want HUGE money.............. Given that he is not going to attract anything more than a third round pick............. the choices are simple.............

1) Sign him to a reasonable contract ---- $650K/year with performance bonuses.

2) Cut him loose, replace him cheap with a 4th rounder, and look for a REAL RB.

I don't see a huge market for a 4 year veteran RB who averages 3.6 YPC.

The guy is just not that good.

We're only 4 games into the season Tom. If Hillis is only averaging that after game 16, of course he isn't worth his asking price. Super stud McFadden only had 52 yard in his last outing, I suppose the Raiders should ask him to take a pay cut?

Other thing to remember- Hillis doesn't have a lot of miles on his body yet- 2010 is the only year he got a significant number of carries.

hoorta

Reply to Someone Said The Browns Offensive Weapons Were Better Than Browns. on Wed, 12 Oct 2011 03:29:23 GMT

If it is so easy to find a running back as good as Hillis how come it has been so many years since we had someone of his caliber.

and that's a good thing?

i could see if we had a load of capable WRs. why not game plan and call the game to our strengths....on offense it sure isn't the passing game.

I will have to disagree with you - Dolphins with a better WR corp and a good Running game still managed to lose to us. Having better receivers and chemistry between the WR's and QB will make us more potent.

BrownIndian

Reply to Someone Said The Browns Offensive Weapons Were Better Than Browns. on Wed, 12 Oct 2011 00:15:54 GMT

@<bdi>brownindian</bdi> said:

Dont you think we have seen more passing attack in these 4 games than 2 years of Brian Daboll football ? (How the heck did he get the Dolphins gig ?)

Steve Smith is not going to come cheap. He is going to expect Jake Delhomme type salary and more.

I like the new regime's plan of building through the draft. It is cheaper and gives us flexibility - what is important is to scout properly and get the right players.
I don't agree with letting Hillis go either, but I don't want to overpay him. Someone suggested cutting Hillis as an option. My point is we should either sign Hillis or look to trade him so we can at least get something for him (draft pick). If we cut him or let him go in free agency we are left with nothing..

bringbackbrownie2

Reply to Someone Said The Browns Offensive Weapons Were Better Than Browns. on Tue, 11 Oct 2011 19:34:47 GMT

@<bdi>miktoxic</bdi> said:

Our offensive weapons are among teh weakest in the NFL. Hillis needs to go, and go now. I pray they trade him or cut him before wasting any more money.
