It's leadership. How is it we are always picking high, yet we barely have anything to show for it? Yet teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and New England pick in the bottom, but they're getting production from the lower 1st round picks! We have shitty management, shitty coaching, shitty scouting, and shitty ownership!

BTW I remember that game. My wife and a friend of ours were both like "oh don't worry it's over, they won!" I kept telling them it's not over until I see double zeros! Sure enough.... well you know the rest. The Bears tie, the game goes into overtime, the Browns win the toss, and Couch throws a pick 6!

I want more than a freaking journeyman with the third overall pick- that's been the Browns downfall. We passed on LaDanian Tomlinson and Richard Seymour to take Warren- now who got a better deal- Browns, Chargers, or Patriots?

That has been our downfall- busting over and over again (or not getting value) with top 10 picks. Since '99 Joe Thomas and Joe Haden is my short list of unqualified success stories- if we want to compete with the Big Boys, we have to do better, and that's not even taking into account doing way better with lower round picks. That same 2001 draft could have landed the Browns my favorite whipping boy, Chad Muchostinko.

hoorta

Reply to I Couldn't Be More Happy With This Loss! on Tue, 20 Dec 2011 05:02:12 GMT

@<bdi>tampadawgs</bdi> said:

And come draft time RG3 will be clear ahead of Barkley based on hes an OLYMPIC sprinter/hurdler not just Ncaa and excells at the best times...If there is a physical freak in the draft its him and i see him moving up the draft boards ala Cam Newton style.

I agree with you that RG3 would be a better pick then Barkley. I see Barkley as just another USC product ala Palmer, Sanchez, Leinart, etc. What have they REALLY done in the NFL? But I am a little confused with your second comment..."...more of a guy ala McCoy you put the Pieces around him and he's outstanding..." If you feel that way, then why wouldn't you want to just "put the pieces around" McCoy and let him be great rather than wasting a high pick on a QB just to start over again? I say go get Richardson and then a receiver! Let's see what Colt can do with the rest of the puzzle! You cannot put a puzzle together until you have all the pieces.
And also for all you that are bitching and moaning about my philosophy on what's best for our team, I hope you don't cheer for that player we draft next year, because if it were up to you we wouldn't have been in position to draft him. So, F off.

Browns did good today by losing.

That's the end result.

Really...you might want to have that head examined. By your logic, If I cheer for my team to win, then I can't cheer for any players they draft with a high pick? How does that make any sense? Are you trying to say that we should be happy with a crappy team but glad they have "Star" players? Are we supposed to cheer for them winning but boo the new draft class?

The bottom line is this...I am a Browns fan! I will root for them to win EVERY SINGLE GAME! Where they draft does not matter to me as much as WHO they draft does. I will root for any new players that join this team! If they have a bad season (quite often), I will still root for them to get better and that means that, yes, I will cheer for whoever they draft! I will take the good with the bad and the bad with the good until the day I cease to breathe or this team ceases to exist any longer!

LCDawgFan13

Reply to I Couldn't Be More Happy With This Loss! on Mon, 19 Dec 2011 13:37:02 GMT

@<bdi>gafreleets</bdi> said:

high draft picks DO NOT = WINS!!!!!

You're right, but it sure as hell should help out and for us it hasn't. This organization doesn't have a formula for success or good leadership/management/ownership.

Until we have a decent formula or leadership, look for more wasted talent to come and go from Cleveland.

USFBrown

Reply to I Couldn't Be More Happy With This Loss! on Mon, 19 Dec 2011 13:26:17 GMT

@<bdi>bob806</bdi> said:

Crazy take.

Young teams need to learn how to win, even if their head coach stands in their way. Winning breeds confidence, and there's no guarantee a high draft pick is going to be the cure.

lol, exactly. cause i mean cleveland hasnt' had any high draft picks lately. you know, if they could only have drafted in the top ten picks the last 8 out of 10 yrs or so they'd have surely taken that talent and put it to good use..............right?

high draft picks DO NOT = WINS!!!!!

what's the average pick of the bronws the last 10yrs? between 5th and 9th?

what's the average pick of the Steelers the last 10yrs? between 24 and 29?

not actual #'s, but you should be able to figure out what i'm sayin.

Gafreleets

Reply to I Couldn't Be More Happy With This Loss! on Mon, 19 Dec 2011 03:32:03 GMT

@<bdi>soju</bdi> said:

We obviously lose out to Balt and Pitt. This guarantees either Blackmon or Barkley--FRANCHISE CHANGING PLAYERS.

Shirley you jest. Have you forgotten this is Cleveland? Owners, management and players come and go, but the legacy here never dies.

Remember a guy named Lebron who was supposed to make a difference? Our legacy and tradition will trump anything any mere "franchise changing player" can bring here.

Yes, we'll try. We'll even find good players now and then who will stay here until they get hungry for a championship.

But this isn't one of those "There's always next season" cities. This is Cleveland. Go Browns.

Berean
