This guy has it all: Fiery competitor, an absolute CANNON for an arm, deadly accurate on deep passes and can take off for a big gain if he so chooses.

I think this guy would bring change to face of the organization who has had pocket-passers every year. Who knows, maybe he sparks a new motivation in the otha brothas on the team like we saw in Steve Smith with Can Newton. Just a thought.

Barkley is good, don't get me wrong, but I see him plateauing, whereas RG3 can really take our team in another direction.

So, here it is, the Browns will most likely be able to choose between the two if no other team trades up to snatch one of them ahead of us.

OK wizard. You played a mascot in high school so now your the most knowledgeable guy here. Riiiiiggggghhhhht.

Everyone said Colt's a winner, so he must be. His record as starter doesn't count because its everyone else's fault. He had absolutely no role in it. Qbs are not a big part of the offense in this league. Not at all really. The RT, WRs, RBs, TEs, refs, and fans are responsible for this suckfest. Everyone but McCoy is responsible. He has a few more yards than all the QBs in the league that he has played twice as many games than. What a bright future. Besides if you draft a QB you have to donate the rest of your picks to Pittsburgh and your set back a decade.

Scouts do have some reservations about Barkley's physical tools. Listed by Southern California at just 6-2, 220 pounds, he doesn't possess the height or bulk preferred at the position and has been protected by a strong Trojan offensive line throughout his career.

Some talent evaluators question whether Barkley has the arm strength to make every NFL throw. Though Southern Cal operates out of a pro-style offense, Barkley is rarely asked to drive the ball to the opposite hash. When he does so, his passes tend to wobble slightly. Because the USC junior has a technically clean set-up, delivery and release, the wobbly passes are thought to be an indication that Barkley may have small hands and only moderate overall arm strength.

While these traits do serve as potential red flags, scouts have much more to like about Barkley than they dislike. As mentioned, Barkley is a technically refined passer well-groomed in a pro-style offense. While many of today's rookie quarterbacks require time on the sideline to acclimate, Barkley is seen as relatively ready to "plug and play." His leadership and toughness have drawn raves from those close to the Southern Cal program. In the history of Southern California no true freshman quarterback had ever earned the starting role in the season opener until Barkley. Operating under the constant glare of Los Angeles sans an NFL team, Barkley is used to being a high-profile athlete in a major media market.

The Gipper

Reply to I Am Really Getting Convinced We Should Take Rg3 on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 20:41:11 GMT

@<bdi>tim-couch-pulls-out</bdi> said:

Big arm, tall, accurate, hi football IQ, could start as a rookie. We would have our franchise QB for the next 10-15 years. Instant relevance. Possibility of a super bowl appearance in the next five years goes way up. Of course Indy may not be open to any trade, but if they do trade that pick we better be in on it.

Second choice.. this assumes we aren't taking a QB this year. Depending on whose opinion you believe, RG3 and Barkley don't appear to be absolute locks for NFL stardom. Grab Trent Richardson. With Hillis looking to be gone and Hardesty a possible bust, going into next year with a practice squad running back as your #1 is a thin cupboard. A stud running back usually has the side effect of helping to open up opportunities in the passing game. Our best offensive performances this year have been when a running back has a good game.

Assuming we keep our own first round pick and take Richardson, then I hope to grab Vontaze Burfict with the Atlanta first round pick obtained via the draft day trade last year. I'm going to be pissed if the Ravens end up with this guy taking over for Ray Lewis and being a star.

Yeah, we still need a dynamic WR. Other teams have had success finding good wr's outside the first round. The past Browns regimes have used second and third round picks on mediocre wideouts, see Robiskie, Massaquoi,Travis Wilson. Heckert did pretty well with Greg Little, maybe he can find us another gem outside the first round. There are some good wideouts that may be available via free agency in the offseason, perhaps that avenue could also be used.

4Browns

Reply to I Am Really Getting Convinced We Should Take Rg3 on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 16:02:59 GMT

@<bdi>jrb12711</bdi> said:

lol, if you really think the offense they run is anywhere the same crap we run then keep dreamin. They started with a concept and modified it for today's game. I have no hope that will happen here. As on last week 75% of our passes were less than 10 yards. Do you think that number is even remotely close in New Orleans or Green Bay? Come on man.

We also don't have the same WR's or QB right now. If we get a QB that can throw more farther down field and do it accuratly and a QR that has some speed to open up the field we would see the team running more long routes.

Harry Buffalo

Reply to I Am Really Getting Convinced We Should Take Rg3 on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 13:40:39 GMT

@<bdi>nickers</bdi> said:

lol, if you really think the offense they run is anywhere the same crap we run then keep dreamin. They started with a concept and modified it for today's game. I have no hope that will happen here. As on last week 75% of our passes were less than 10 yards. Do you think that number is even remotely close in New Orleans or Green Bay? Come on man.

jrb12711

Reply to I Am Really Getting Convinced We Should Take Rg3 on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 09:17:59 GMT

@<bdi>cantonlegend</bdi> said:

Ur right. QB is the problem. Just like it's always been. The browns pick the wrong QB every 2 years...don't you think they wouldve hit on one of them by now?

The browns are the only team in the league that draft a QB as often as they do. They are the only team in the league that thinks the QB is the reason they can't stop anybody on defense...the reason the wrs can't catch...the reason the offensive line can't block and the reason they can't win ever

QBs that find success early are the ones that have talent already around them...unfortunately the browns are too concerned with drafting a new QB every other year so they don't use any picks on the rest of the team.

Cliche I know, but I could not have said it better myself. Coaching same deal. The Browns need CONTINUITY!

DawginIT
