Just speculating.

Shurmur HAS to win this Sunday in convincing fashion, or he is done.

I believe when Haslam gets approved as owner next Tuesday he will fire Shurmur and ask politely for Holmgren to pack his bags as well. Childress gets moved to interim HC to finish the season and Haslam's guy Banner takes over as PofO. Haslam and Banner start putting out feelers for the next HC for the next 3-4 months and finally get us a guy who is a good motivator, not just a supposed "Guru" like we've had in the past 3 coaches.

In the meantime Childress takes the lead with Nolan Cromwell moving into the OC position...

There is no way a new owner can stand for 11 losses in a row, 15 of the last 16. Especially, when play calling is one of the most suspect aspects of this team underachieving. Shurmur came in as a supposed "expert" of the WCO, and so far his play calling and game plans have been awful. We need a coach that can get the most out of Richardson and Weeden, not put Weeden in difficult situations and take TRich off the field every 3rd down.

Just my thoughts. If it doesn't happen Tuesday, it will be soon.

Reply to Pat Shurmur on Tue, 09 Oct 2012 06:22:53 GMT

And that's why we're one of the worst teams in the NFL in 3rd down % and one of the worst in T.O.P.

dab7291993

Reply to Pat Shurmur on Tue, 09 Oct 2012 06:09:18 GMT

@<bdi>dab7291993</bdi> said:

There was an article about us being the most predictable offense in the league.

"Writing about the Browns offense leads me to a game I play every week at NFL Films. I sit in my office in Mt Laurel, N.J., put the Browns offense on my screen and call a friend who was a coach in the league, but is now in between successes. I tell my friend the personnel group, the formation, where the ball is located on the field and what hash mark and describe the motion -- if there is any -- and ask him to tell me the exact play that will be run," Lombardi writes.

"He is correct about 95 percent of the time. No lie. The Browns are so integrated into the West Coast system that their predictability is becoming legendary around the league."

And that might work- if we had Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and John Taylor on this team. Unfortunately we don't. That level of predictability can work in college ball, where you have an overwhelming superiority in talent.

You tell a pro defense what's coming ahead of time ant the probability is 95% of the time they can stuff the play.

hoorta

Reply to Pat Shurmur on Tue, 09 Oct 2012 00:22:49 GMT

There was an article about us being the most predictable offense in the league.
