I promised it. Here it is. Redneck Trivia.:

Answers

1. One of Elvis Presley's first concert was at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis. Elvis was the back up act. Who was the lead act? Hint: Aliens hate this guy.

Slim Whitman, the bane of the attacking Martians.

2. Re the Hatfield-MCoy Feud

A. Which county in Kentucky were the McCoys from? Pike County

B. Which county in W. Va. were the Hatfield's from? Hint: current Browns news applies here.

Mingo County

3. In what two ways is it surmised that the term "Redneck" Originated?

A. The basic answer is that it comes from the Southern farmers neck getting sunburnt while working the fields.

B. In the 1600s a large segment of the Scottish rebelled against Catholic rule, and to show unity they wore red kerchiefs around their neck. These "rebels" became Presbyterians. Also, in the 1600s and 1700s many of the immigrants to the southern colonies who became farmers and plantation owners/worker were Scottish Presbyterians who brought with them the tradition of wearing the red kerchief. So the redneck name stuck.

4. Which MLB team was once known by a variation of "Redneck"?

The Cincinnati "Redlegs" duh.

In the US "rednecks" became the somewhat derogatory name for poor white farmers. In the Carribean that term was "redlegs" because there the white farmers would wear short pants and it was their legs that got sunburnt that were more apparent than their necks.

5. What do these terms signify in derogatory terms parlance:

Oreo Black person (African-American) on outside, white person on inside

Apple Red person (native American) on outside, white person on inside

Banana Yellow person (Oriental) on outside, white on inside

Coconut Brown person (Hispanic usually, but also Souther Asian) on outside, white on inside.

Devil's Food cake White person on outside, black person on inside aka wigger

6. What is the name of the piece of music used in the "Beef" Commercials?

This is the Hoedown Movement from Aaron Copeland's Appalachian Spring.

7. What resource allowed the "Bayou Billionaires" to become wealthy?

That family's farm sat on one of the largest natural gas deposits in the nation.

8. Where is the Corvette Museum located?

Bowling Green KY

9. Per Beercans.org, how much would an empty can of Billy Beer sell for today?

Anywhere from about a quarter to a dollar. Not sure if a full can would bring more, perhaps.

10. Where did Andy make Barney keep his bullett?

In his pocket

11. What are chitlins?

Baked Intestines.

12. In the 1993 remake movie "The Beverly Hillbillies", the Clampett clan had to engage the services of a private detective. Who did they hire?

Barnaby Jones, played by Buddy Ebsen
