(note....this statistic was only kept from 1950 onward):

Jim Brown....5 years

Carl Eller...3 years

Lem Barney...2 years

Jim Taylor...2 years

Len Ford...2 years

no one else had more than one year of a 20+ score.

A few notables:

Elway, none

Montana, none

Barry Sanders, 1

OJ Simpson, 1

Ergo...the conclusion that Jim Brown may have been the greatest, most productive player in NFL history is born out in this statistic...in that, no he didn't have more years than anyone, just more better years.

The Gipper

Reply to The Best Player For Each Franchise on Thu, 23 May 2013 22:21:29 GMT

The Top 12 overall:

Some observations:

According to this, the player that was most productive for his career for his team was Ray Lewis with a 222 score, which beats out Brett Favre by one point and Peyton Manning by 2. Do you buy that?

But, I also think that this rating does have a lot to do with longevity. Though Lewis got a 222 career rate, it took him 17 years to accomplish that. His best single year was a 23 score, his second best a 19.

His 17 year average score was: 222 divided by 17=13.058

But take Jim Brown in comparison. He played only 9 years. He had a 179 career rate. But his averge score was 19.88. He had 5 years over a 20, and 4 years of 23 or more, which was Ray Lewis's best score ever.
