<p><span style="color:rgb(128,0,0)">And FYI,  (you know I keep track of this stuff)  NO city has had 3 teams win Championships in a single calendar year.   But that is not to say that a city has not won 3 consecutive titles.   It happened just one time....and in fact that time the city won 4 consecutive titles, but 2 in each year.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(128,0,0)">And yes, it was the NYC teams.   In order:  1927 NY Yankees, 1927 NY football Giants, 1928 NY Rangers, then 1928 NY Yankees.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(128,0,0)">This NYC streak was broken by the Providence Steam Roller who won the NFL title in 1928.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(128,0,0)">The first city to win 2 titles in the same year?:  Cleveland/Akron:   1920 Indians won the WS, 1920 Akron Pros won the first NFL title.</span></p>
