Here is a trivia set about streaking....but not the kind you think. Sports streaks:

Answers:

1. What was the last city to have its teams win consecutive championships? (example: winning the World Series then winning the Super Bowl, or winning the NBA title then winning the WS)

Pittsburgh won the 2008 Super Bowl (played Feb. 2009), then the Penquins won the Stanley Cup in June 2009

2. What is the last team in the 4 major sports (MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL) to win 3 consecutive championships?

The LA Lakers won 3 in a row in 2000-01-02.

It seems that this happens in basketball now more than in any other sport. It has not happened in football since the Packers won 3 in a row in the 60s, or in baseball since the A's won 3 in a row, or hockey since the Islanders of the 70s/80s, but it has happened in the NBA, with the Lakers as per above, Chicago twice in the 90s, and now the Heat threatening to do it again.

3. There is an Olympic Gold Medal swimmer who NEVER lost a race in his career, yet you know him beter for something else. Who is this?

Johnny Weismuller, who played Tarzan

4. Which college football team holds the NCAA record (at any level) for most consecutive victories?

Mt. Union has the record with 55 consecutive wins. That was at the D-III level.

Oklahoma with 47 wins hold the D-1 record.

5. What college holds the NCAA record (at any level) for most consecutive championships won in any sport?

Kenyon College Men's Swimming won 31 consecutive NCAA National titles. (and it was broken by their arch rival Denison)

6. Which NFL team currently has the longest postseason appearance streak?

The Ravens have been to the playoffs for 5 straight years. Lets hope the Browns put a dagger into that streak yesterday.

7. The Browns, from 1946 to 1955 hold the record for most consecutive years with a postseason appearance, but these include the AAFC years. Which 2 teams hold the NFL only consecutive postseason appearance all time streak, with 9 years each?

The Cowboys from 1975-1983

The Colts from 2002-2010

8. The Browns hold the NFL Championship game/Super Bowl appearance streak with 6 from 1950-1955. Tied for second with a 4 game appearance streak in a SB/NFL title game are those 1990s Bills. Which team from which era is tied with the Bills with 4 straight title game appearances?

The Chicago Bears did it from 1940-1943...winning 3 out of 4.

9. Which team holds the record for most consecutive post season victories?

The New England Patriots from 2001 to 2005

10.A. Which NFL team has now gone the longest without making a playoff appearance?

The Buffalo Bills, 13 years and running

B. Which team has now gone the longest without a postseason victory?

The Cincinnatti Bengals, 22 years and running.

11. Which team has now gone the most years without appearing in a Championship game (either SB or NFL/AFL pre SB title game?)

The Detroit Lions have not been in a title game since their win in the 1957 title game, now 55 years and counting.

12. Of the 30 NFL markets (30 because NYC and SF/Oak have 2 each) how many have never seen a Super Bowl winner?

Fourteen markets, or nearly half have never seen a Super Bowl winner: Detroit, Philly, Buffalo, San Diego, Atlanta, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Seattle, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Nashville

(so, really, what is the "big deal" that Cleveland hasn't been in a SB. Winning it is what is important...and 43.75% of all NFL teams have never won one)

13. The Chicago/St.L/Ariz. Cardinals hold the NFL record for having gone the most seasons without a post season victory (50 years). What team is second in that category?

That would be your Pittsburgh Steelers who went 39 years without ever having won a postseason game from 1933 to 1972.

14. What is the only city that has had its teams win 4 consecutive titles (in terms of having one team win a title in one sport...then having another team win a title in another sport etc.)

New York City had the 1927 Yankees, 1927 football Giants, the 1928 NHL Rangers, then the 1928 Yankees again winning. (Streak broken by the 1928 Providence Steam Roller NFL champions).

This is also the only time in history that a city has won as many as 3 consecutive titles.

15. Which NBA team holds the record for the most consecutive playoff appearances?

The Syracuse Nationals/Philadelphia 76ers franchise appeared in 22 consecutive postseasons from 1950 to 1971. Second were the Portland Trailblazers with 21 years and 3rd were the Utah Jazz, with 20 As much as the Celts and Lakers have dominated title history in the NBA, they have had down years in there where they did not even make the playoffs....where these other teams were steadier longer.

Those Nats/76ers did win 2 titles in those years, the Blazers won one title (with Bill Walton)...but the Jazz in their 20 years never won a title.

1. Steelers beat the Cardinals and couldn't tell you who the Penguins beat. I remember wanting Warner to win one last championship and the Steelers to lose. After the Penguins won the media kept talking about Pittsburgh being the new "title town" blah blah blah.

8. Stab in the dark. They're a storied franchise with a long history.

First thought is Chicago... with Bears and Bulls.

NO

2. What is the last team in the 4 major sports (MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL) to win 3 consecutive championships?

Johnny Weissmuller, AKA 'TARZAN'... unique swimming style to say the least... "Umgawa"

Check

4. Which college football team holds the NCAA record (at any level) for most consecutive victories?

You are correct on OK, but Bob got the right answer.

5. What college holds the NCAA record (at any level) for most consecutive championships won in any sport?

ULCA Bruins Basketball

NO

6. Which NFL team currently has the longest postseason appearance streak?

Packers?

NO

7. The Browns, from 1946 to 1955 hold the record for most consecutive years with a postseason appearance, but these include the AAFC years. Which 2 teams hold the NFL only consecutive postseason appearance all time streak, with 9 years each?
