1. I have my trivia thread elsewhere on "Big" Browns games. What do you think is the biggest Browns game that you can recall. And for this, let's perhaps limit it to regular season games....as obviously any playoff game is going to be huge.

Ohhhhh reg season game... and I was on a roll about the Fumble game....

Only regular season that comes to mind is the Jets game I've mentioned a few times here... the 26-20 loss in which Fujita was hurt and Norwood chose not to go OB, ending a potential game winning drive with a... yup, you guessed it... FUMBLE!

I maintain that a win in that game changes to trajectory of the 2010 season and the reborn franchise.

2. With so many teams in the hunt for a wildcard spot at this time, do you, in general, like the idea of "parity" in the NFL?

On balance, yes, I like the parity.

It should be hard to build a superior team, and it is in the NFL as opposed to MLB. But it should also be possible to build and sustain one, and the new CBA helps this to be possible as well.

I also like that the "on any given Sunday" principle is as alive today as it ever has been.

3. Soon it will be the 50th anniversary of the assasination of John F. Kennedy. If you are old enough to have been alive, no one forgets where they were when this occurred. Where were you?

On safety patrol at my 6th grade elementary school.

It was a borderline cold, sunny day in the burbs south of Cleveland.

I heard the news from an adult crossing guard at a major intersection.

4. OK, so which Kennedy Assassination Conspiracy do you put the most stock in:

None... Oswald acted alone.

Only thing that gives me pause is Jack Ruby, who I saw shoot Oswald on live TV in glorious B&W.

Here is this week's survey. Please give your opinions:

1. I have my trivia thread elsewhere on "Big" Browns games. What do you think is the biggest Browns game that you can recall. And for this, let's perhaps limit it to regular season games....as obviously any playoff game is going to be huge.

I think it is a tie between that game in 1980 against the Bengals in Cinci where the Browns clinched the division, and the game against Houston in 1989. The Houston game was memorable because it was around Christmas, and I was in South Carolina at my in-laws, and also there were several other in-law related people (my wife's sister's husband's family...if that makes sense) who were from Houston. I was the only Browns fan there (wife could care less about football...and father in law was a Packer fan).

So, I counted that as scoreboard, baby. It was especially good since we had lost to those bozos in the playoff the year before.

2. With so many teams in the hunt for a wildcard spot at this time, do you, in general, like the idea of "parity" in the NFL?

I do like parity.....I always like fresh blood in the mix. Of course, if the Browns were the dominators, then I wouldn't care about parity.

3. Soon it will be the 50th anniversary of the assasination of John F. Kennedy. If you are old enough to have been alive, no one forgets where they were when this occurred. Where were you?

I was in 6th grade and we were having recess on the playground. There was this heavyset girl in my class who lived behind some woods that were on the edge of the playground. I remember her running....waddling really around the corner of those woods screaming the "Kennedy's been shot".

They brought everyone off the playground back into the school room and quickly got the busses to take everyone home early. When I got home my Mom was crying....as she was a big Kennedy fan, her being a staunch Catholic.

For those not old enough, can you remember where you were when some other seminal event occurred?

e.g.: Reagan being shot, the Challenger, 9/11

#I heard about RFK being shot when I got onto the school bus the morning after. Our bus driver had this big old radio on the front of the bus. He used to play music, but that morning it was turned of course to the news of yet another assasination of a Kennedy.

#Reagan: I was in my car when the news came over the radio. I remember that I was only a mile or so from my parents house, having just left there. It was around lunch time.

#Challenger: I was visiting another Kiwanis Club meeting (not my own club) when the emcee of that meeting broke into the speaker to make the announcement.

#9/11....I was in a hearing in Domestic Relations court on a child support matter when the news came in. I remember the magistrate and the other attorney basically just deciding to wrap the hearing up quickly to see what was going on.

(I don't remember where I was when I heard about MLK...I think it too may have been on the radio on my school bus.)

4. OK, so which Kennedy Assassination Conspiracy do you put the most stock in:

The USSR did it.

The Mafia did it.

The Cubans did it.

LBJ and George H.W. Bush did it

The CIA did it.

Any other you may have thought of?

Anyone who has done a bit of study into the matter will know that this killing is a classic mob hit. They just don't have the smoking gun to prove it.

And the reason for that is that, particularly in a hit like this one the mob went overboard on getting rid of anyone that might have had anything to do with it. Not only was the hitter hit, in classic mob style, but many others that may have known about what the hitter was doing where also hit.

Add to the fact that, from there point of view, the mob had perfect justification for getting rid of Kennedy.

Kennedy's old man was in league with the mob. And the mob delivered the Presidency to JFK, by ensuring the votes in Chicago went his way. (If Illinois had gone for Nixon, Nixon would have become Prez then). They thought they had one of "their guys" in the White House. But JFK and RFK were not their old man. They were idealists. Bobby Kennedy went after Jimmy Hoffa, who was the mob's bank; and he went after Carlos Marcellos, the Don of New Orleans(of which Dallas was in his territory). The old man had had his stroke and could not communicate and could not thus warn RFK off of doing that to the mob. So, in the mob's view, they were stabbed in the back by RFK's action, and they had to take him out...but did so by cutting off the head of the snake, not the tail.

(When later it seemed that he may become the head of the snake in 1968, they took him out then)

I won't go on...but yes, classic mob style hit.

5. What Veterans do you have in your family, and where did they serve. (fyi, no I am not a Vet).

My Dad served in the 144th Field Artillery Group in WWII, first in the Third Army under Patton, but when Patton went north to relieve the forces during the Battle of the Bulge, his unit was transferred into the 7th Army under Patch. On VE Day, they were in the shadow of The Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden on the Germany/Austria border.

Right now, my niece's husband is a career military man. They are currently at Eglin in Fla,, but he did do a year's stint at Gitmo.

My Grandfather on my Mother's side was a Civilian Engineer in the service of the British Admiralty. Among things he did was to be involved with both the Titanic and the Lusitania when they sank. Being a Civilian didn't keep him from being killed by a Nazi bomb during The Blitz.

Three of my uncles on my mother's side all served in the British Military, but I am not sure which branch.....but, my Mother's Cousin was one of

"The Few", i.e one of band of RAF pilots that fought the Battle of Britain. When the US got into the war, he came over here for a while to help train US pilots.

He also served as the aide-de-camp to the Queen of England, and represented the RAF in Churchill's funeral cortege.

From my limited experience, this coming Sunday is pretty big.

2. With so many teams in the hunt for a wildcard spot at this time, do you, in general, like the idea of "parity" in the NFL?

I love it. I've grown up with soccer as the main sport, and it gets so depressing seeing the same 4 teams competing year after year. There's no spending cap, no salary cap, merchandise revenue is not distributed equally, youth systems mean the top teams are getting the best players younger and younger. So the American model is a breath of fresh air. Not workable in soccer, but still I love it.

e.g.: Reagan being shot, the Challenger, 9/11

9/11 - I got home from school, turned the tv on to watch Fresh Prince, as I did every day. My brother comes down, picks up the remote and puts the news on. I was not impressed. It took some time for what had happened to sink in.

Eric Metcalfs 2 TD's on punt returns in 10/1993 against the stoolers stands out for me. It left the Browns at 5-2. They folded the second half of the season to finish 7-9

2. With so many teams in the hunt for a wildcard spot at this time, do you, in general, like the idea of "parity" in the NFL?

3. Soon it will be the 50th anniversary of the assasination of John F. Kennedy. If you are old enough to have been alive, no one forgets where they were when this occurred. Where were you?

For those not old enough, can you remember where you were when some other seminal event occurred?

e.g.: Reagan being shot, the Challenger, 9/11

She was actually talking to me this morning that she remembers where she was, what she wearing, the time of the day, the color of the phone and the table it was on ... and that she was pregnant with me. She says she cried for three days. I wonder if babies sense such things as sadness.

9/11 ... I was in a morning sales meeting and a couple people walked in saying that a plane had hit a building in New york, more details started to come in, a lady got on her computer and as she updated us with things like "Another plane hit!" "One of the towers has fallen ... it's gone!" this assmunch Broker just kept going on with the fucking sales meeting, like it was more important or something. Finally she said "the pentagon just got hit" and I ran out fo the room and got on my computer to see what the fuck was going on. What an asshole that guy was.

2. I don't agree there is parity. The reason why teams win in the NFL is this...........They have GREAT QB play. Be it for a season, or 10 seasons. The teams that suck, year in and year out have BAD QB play. If that's a product of a good running game, or good line play then so be it. But good running teams and good line play will win you NOTHING without GREAT QB play.

3. I don't remember Reagan being shot. I was 10. I was in High School German class when the challenger blew up. And I was on a man lift. painting pillars on a building on Chagrin Blvd in Beachwood, Ohio when 9/11 happened. My buddy called me and told me a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. I said that sucks, must have been an accident. He called back and said ANOTHER plane hit the other Trade Center, and I said "WE ARE AT WAR" We all left work and went to the bar and watched the HORROR on TV.

4. The Mafia did it 100%

5. My Grandfather (RIP) was a cook in the British Royal Airforce in WWII.
