(It may also help explain the convenient calls New England got, and the shitty horrible calls we got today, remember Robert Kraft is the owner of the Patriots)

interesting excerpt from the article:

"Robert Kraft and John Mara are two of the most business savvy and highly respected NFL owners. Kraft is in charge of the NFL TV broadcast committee and also leads all television negotiations for the NFL. Kraft also is on the board of directors for Viacom, the parent company of CBS, one of NFL's broadcasters. This past Spring, Robert Kraft negotiated a record TV deal for the NFL which will result in $24 Billion in revenue with CBS, FOX, ESPN and NBC. Kraft and Mara also brought both parties to the table and led all negotiations in ending the lockout."

also:

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank was interviewed saying "It is predetermined that these two teams would be here, I wish my team was selected to be in the Super Bowl one day, but these two gentlemen deserve it".

Not exactly if the Browns just kick the xp they would have been up 20 to 3 when New England scored their first TD. New England kicks the xp to make it 20 to 10. No reason for them to go for 2 and take the chance of needing 2 TD's rather than a TD and FG.

Richiswhere

Reply to Could the NFL be fixed? on Tue, 10 Dec 2013 19:22:32 GMT

@<bdi>tour2ma</bdi> said:

Before Goddell came into the league, the general principle was to let the players play and only throw flags on overt penalties. That's why teams like the Ravens and Buccaners won super bowls, and for me it was awesome to watch. Sadly, Goddell has changed the reffing culture entirely. It's now a league of throwing the flag first on any little call. Refs are also so concerned about flagging the "player safety" penalties that other penalties are flying under the radar. There's a good reason there's been so many flags picked up and it's really becoming a controversy. I'd be really interested to see a study on how many flags have been thrown from say 2010 to current.

jrb12711

Reply to Could the NFL be fixed? on Mon, 09 Dec 2013 17:43:17 GMT

@<bdi>angel</bdi> said:

And the "Patriots" won the SB after 9/11 thanks to the "Tuck Rule" which had never ever been heard of.
Looking back, I'm starting to see trends that are either huge coincedences, or certain teams are swayed by the NFL to win games. They obviously want teams in the super bowl and deep playoff matchups that will give them the best ratings.

Year after hurricane Katrina? The lowly saints make a magical run and win the super bowl

After 9/11? "Patriots" go from 5-11 the previous year, to super bowl champs

Who's the dominating team during the prime of the war on terror? the "Patriots"

Two brothers coaching against each other in the super bowl? The average ravens making a magical run?

Well how about a 3rd stringer who grew up in Cleveland, had season tickets to the browns games, was at their last game and saw the fans rip up the chairs afterwards, grow up to lead his favorite team to a Super Bowl. The ratings would be through the roof... Everyone would tune in the watch the underdog Browns and their local qb make his childhood dream come true and lead the browns to a championship. The NFL is salivating over that scenario

Adoug319

Reply to Could the NFL be fixed? on Mon, 09 Dec 2013 15:51:08 GMT

Okay, I have full editing with win internet explorer !
