The Browns have an alleged-criminal owner and kicked Rob Chudzinski aside after one year on the job, also letting outstanding coordinators Ray Horton and Norv Turner leave without a fight. There is no franchise quarterback or running back on the roster. It's not surprising coaches around the league aren't lining up to succeed Chudzinski.

Actually an incoming coach now has the upperhand. Unless he goes 0-16, he won't get fired. He knows the Browns FO wouldn't get anyone to stick after the 2014 season. And Haslam knows it too. Haslam's apolgetic letter wasn't to the fans, as much as it was a subtle message to prospective coaches. Look for the Browns next coach to stick for a few years no matter what.

And because of what I stated above, look for the other 2 stooges to stick as well. Haslam is getting a bad reputation as an employer with high turnover and he knows it (NOW).

Nearly 30. And horse face is still part of Denver, as an exec.

I was joking, and that was my point in rooting for Denver to make a run and win the SB. Then Manning would more likely retire and come work in Cleveland. (If they lose I think he'll stay and give it another shot.)

Sorry, no relevant comments about the Browns. This is about as low as I've been

Sure, Manning will want to live in Cleveland after he retire-s,when he can sit on the beach in Tahiti drinking Pina Coladas, or get on any one of the network pregame shows- he's very well spoken. It's a nice dream Gip, I hope it happens, but probably not.

And this begs the question...do we do the unthinkable and root for Broncos to win the SB?

tml1138

Reply to Around the league, the Browns hc job is now "radioactive" on Wed, 15 Jan 2014 19:45:14 GMT

@<bdi>the-gipper</bdi> said:

Here is speculation I have heard: a fair amount of the "guidance" involved in the HC search is being done by the Manning family. Jimmah is tight with Peyton and his dad and Peyton really is high on Gase and has reccomended Gase to Jimmah and Haslam complied with the Mannings request to put Gase high on the list.

Also, it is speculated that if in fact Peyton were to win the SB he may do what he current boss (John Elway) did and ride into the sunset sitting on that championship. And, at the end of that trail? A FO job with the Cleveland Browns.

What does it say that 4 of the 6 guys interviewed have turned down the job? Said, "thanks, but no thanks." No one worth anything wants to work under this FO. Fuck it. Do we need a coach? Just let Banner and Lombardi call plays down themselves. They're obviously fucking geniuses so why not. Kelly played them like a fiddle last year and they ended up with their 6th choice just to fill the seat while they prepared a massive roster overhaul. Shitcanned that guy and now they are going to end up with a no-name 5th choice again because no one wants to work under them. Clusterfuck. Browns are the new Raiders, get used to it.

bonedawg

Reply to Around the league, the Browns hc job is now "radioactive" on Wed, 15 Jan 2014 16:10:56 GMT

As if Norm had a prayer of staying after he "provided feedback" in the season-ending meeting...
The last guy was fired after less than a year when, in some ways he did a good job, esp. considering the QB, RB, 1 2013 draft pick did anything worthwhile, roster changes every f'ing week, ending the season with 16 players who were rookie or one-year free agent signees (basically off practice squads or the street) on the 53-man roster - nearly a third of the roster.

The last guy was told who his coordinators would be. The last guy had little or no player personnel input. You'll have to compete with the stability of Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincy while being Banner and Lombardi's tool. I know I'm the first scapegoat.

I'm taking my family and everything to Cleveland, ok probably not for one year, but probably 2-3 years unless I get this shitcan to 10-6 and beating out at least two of Pitt/Balt/Cincy by then?

The selling points Haslem has are, "there are only 32 of these jobs in the world," and "I've got a lot of money (for now)."

Andruw u

Reply to Around the league, the Browns hc job is now "radioactive" on Wed, 15 Jan 2014 15:49:33 GMT

And then there was 1
