Ottawa has gone only 28 team seasons as follows: Original Senators went 7 seasons without a title when they went defunct in 1934. Plus, it has now been 21 seasons since the resurrection of the new Ottawa Senators.

Sacramento has gone 29 team seasons since the Kings moved there in 1985.

Portland has gone 37 team seasons since the Trailblazers won the NBA title in 1977.

Salt Lake City has gone 40 team seasons since the ABA Utah Stars won a title in 1971. There are 5 years of the Stars and 35 years of the Jazz in the NBA .

Vancouver has gone 49 team seasons which include 6 years that the NBA Grizzlies played there and 43 with the Canucks

Kansas City has gone 58 team seasons since the Royals won the 1985 World Series. Twenty nine years each for the Royals and Chiefs. (Note: the Kansas City Kings left KC in 1985)

Milwaukee has gone 86 team seasons since the Bucks won the NBA title in 1971. 43 years each for the Bucks and the Brewers.

(but note as stated elsewhere, the Packers are really that cities team and the people there are as fervent for them as for any of the teams that actually play in Milwaukee....so, in a sense it may really only be about 10-12 team seasons)

Buffalo has gone 100 team seasons since the Bills won the 1965 AFL Championship. 8 of those seasons are for when the NBA Braves...nka LA Clippers played there, plus 49 years now for the Bills plus 43 years for the NHL Sabres which were new in 1971.

San Diego has gone 105 team seasons since the Chargers won the 1963 AFL title. These include 3 years for WHA San Diego Mariners, 6 years for the San Diego Clippers ...nka LA Clippers, plus 45 years for The MLB Padres and 51 years for the Chargers.

Finally, Cleveland. It has been 147 team seasons since Cleveland last saw a title. There are 2 seasons of the NHL Cleveland Barons, 4 seasons of the WHA Cleveland Crusaders, 44 years of the Cleveland Cavs, 47 years of the Cleveland Browns, and50 seasons for the Cleveland Indians.

So, in numbers, we in Cleveland have suffered through 1.5 times as many non title cities as the next one on the North American Continent.

Thanks for pulling together.

So, that city had waited longer than only 8 other US/Canadian cities for a title of any kind.

(note also that while I separate Milwaukee and Green Bay for this purpose because they are like 120 miles apart, Milwaukee considers the Packers "their" team.)

The Gipper
