What that plan is may not become known even after the draft. We'll probably know more around the OTA time but it is entirely possible we won't know before we know the 53 that makes the cut. Based on how much of that plan Pettine has told us so far, Hoyer will be the Brown's first #1 in the Pettine/Shanahan/Farmer regime. That tells me two things; Pettine believes Hoyer can cut it and Pettine doesn't want the crazy that comes along with 'who is going to be the Browns' QB' confusion.

Remarker

Reply to Pro days reaction on Tue, 18 Mar 2014 05:27:29 GMT

@<bdi>mike-h</bdi> said:

Farmer was there.
Understand, and agree to a point. And I do think Mariotta is a system QB, but also not one who seems to have questionable size, decision making, or live by the busted play. Don't get me wrong, I like JF. Love his intangibles, leadership, never say die attitude. I just don't like him at 4.

As for Mariotta next year? I'm not saying tank. I'm not saying sell the farm. But would I give up say a 2016 1st rounder to move up? Yeah. But who knows. Again. I'm not a film junkie. I like his size better. I like his physical skill set better. I like his home run ability, even more than RG3. There is something about the way he plays the game, that I like watching ... In spite of their uniforms.

I don't like any of the quarterbacks for the top half of the first round.
