The only reason there is "a call" for moderate Muslims to take up arms against extremists is that because due to the emergence of ISIS, the violence and killings between Muslims has escalated to an all time high....but Muslims killing Christians?, eh no biggie...carry on.

The call to arms against terror by muslim leaders should have taken place the day after 9/11.

Furthermore, many "moderate" Muslims are only moderate in the sense that they dont take part in terrorism and killing... they believe in it though.

Directors producers and screenwriters are not necessarily bound to historical accuracy.

I would also assume that anyone with the wherewithal and desire to make a motion picture probably has a definite opinion one way or the other and can easily craft the film to support whichever side that may be.
