Pettine recently said that he is basically considered a red shirt and an extended project. Sounded like we wouldn't see him till next year(barring injury).

With Williams, Skrine, Haden and Gilbert all ahead of him, it's going to be a tall ladder to climb.

True. But mostly because the Texans ran all over the Browns. Mallet was throwing 5 yard slants and out routes the whole game. Very few balls went in the air beyond 10 yards.

He said that Gilbert had a sore heel during practice throughout the week, and it was a precautionary move to not play him on Sunday.
