The Browns were a much improved team this year. At one point you guys were 7-4 at the top of the division. And that was with without Gordon and with Hoyer starting.

That probably doesn't make many of you feel better, but it's true. The Browns are now a team I dread facing. I actually predicted you guys to win this one, and for a while it looked like I was gonna be correct.

Although much has changed from week 3 till now, both games were eerily similar.

The Browns basically controlled both games for the majority of the 4 quarters of play. Then at the end Flacco and the offense stepped up to steal the game away late. And both game winning/defining plays were made against the Browns top All Pro Corner Joe Hayden.

Anyways, good game, good season.

Now, I'm curious. Who is everybody here rooting for this Saturday, Ravens or Steelers? Or is it one of those games where you just don't root for either team?

Is there a team any of you are pulling for in the playoffs? My father has always rooted for the North winner if the Ravens weren't in it anymore. I usually root for an NFC team, usually the Packers.

Reply to Good game, thoughts from Ravens perspective on Game and Season, and a question on Wed, 31 Dec 2014 18:57:31 GMT

@<bdi>the-gipper</bdi> said:

Whether or not the Ravens are the "old Browns" never had anything to do with players for me. I never said, damn, those players are traitors, or, damn, Ray Lewis should've been our guy, and I didn't change my mind the day Matt Stover retired. If I was 20 years old, or 60 years old, I'd probably feel differently about the history and current significance. The Ravens will always be illegitimate to me. I hate the Steelers, too, but I can, at least on rare occasion, respect the franchise and its success.

I wouldn't be a Bengals fan if the Browns didn't exist. I'm a Browns fan because my dad grew up in Erie, Pa during the 60s. Some 20 years later, even though I grew up in Indiana, then Virginia, I was never given a choice in the matter. Had the Browns not existed I'm not sure what I'd be, and I got a test run for three seasons as an impressionable little mush head but my golf game got better on Sundays instead of caring more about some other NFL team. As for my dad, I guess he might've passed the Steelers or Bills along instead.

Andruw u

Reply to Good game, thoughts from Ravens perspective on Game and Season, and a question on Wed, 31 Dec 2014 14:28:57 GMT

Yes they do.
Exactly. Hoping another sub 500 loser wins the Super Bowl makes a browns fan feel better about his team.

LoL.. the AAFC? Does Cleveland have an Arena Football championship too? May as well count that.

The AAFC was the Arena Football league of the 1940's.

The Packers have the most championships that matter period.

are you stupid. The AAFC was better than the NFL at that time. You are ignorant if you think otherwise. What AAFC came in and dominated the NFL?

(Yes, the Packers as a single franchise have the most championships. Cleveland area's titles are divided among several franchises.

Why Detroit? Detroit going to the Super Bowl would leave Cleveland all by its lonesome as the only founding NFL team to have never made a SB appearance.

The Lions are not a found franchise of the NFL. The only two "founding franchises" are the Bears and the Cardinals still active....and the Packers who came into the league one year later.....the Giants who came in 4 years later. All other franchises didn't come into existance until at least 10-12 years after the NFL was formed.

The only other teams that never made an appearance are JAX and Hou....but they are much newer franchises.

Well, here is a stat you may not know....but should......Out of the 32 NFL franchises.....15 have never won a "Super Bowl" (NFL title since 1966).

A considerable number are only 0-1 in SBs.

I have hated Pittsburgh since I became an aware fan in 1970

I absolutely hated how they got every damn call in the 70s. I did begrudgingly love Jack Lambert though, and thought Bradshaw was clutch. Their defense was truly one of the best ever despite my hate.

Three Rivers Jinx was horrible- we got robbed in 1979 when the Steelers fumbled the OT kickoff, refs said guy (Anderson?) was down, total bullshit.

Art crushed our hearts in 1995, Rooney said it was bullshit

I always thought I hated the Steelers the most, until the 2008 AFC Championship...I was rooting for the Ratbirds to lose (not the Steelers to win); I guess it was a Freudian slip that I never really knew I hated Baltimore more.

Plus, a franchise like Baltimore glorifying Ray Lewis, even ESPN has done that. Horrible

Ozzie Newsome defending Ray Rice, wtf

So yeah, I once again will be rooting for the Ratbirds to lose, not Pittsburgh to win this week

Bob806

Reply to Good game, thoughts from Ravens perspective on Game and Season, and a question on Tue, 30 Dec 2014 13:36:28 GMT

@<bdi>stewie</bdi> said:

Why would I care that Cleveland is left behind as the only team not to make it to the SB? That's whiny loser attitude, which I know you want to assume all Browns fans are.

Detroit is one of the oldest teams, originally started in Ohio actually, and I believe has the longest drought of winning a championship...like 1957. That's seven years older than the Browns last championship. Arizona is the only one longer, I believe, but they were in the Superbowl not too long ago so that's why they are second instead of first.

The Browns proved it- winning the Championship in 1950 when they joined the NFL. BTW, I and most others don't like how Gip is counting, though he's technically right. He's going all the way back to the days of the Canton Bulldogs.

Even if we just go with the Browns championships, if the Steelers won again this year they'd still be one behind.

tml1138
