They are kind of like rating Gasoline choices: Let me know if you differ with this:

Tier 1: The Premiums

Tom Brady

Peyton Manning

Aaron Rogers

Drew Brees

Ben Roethlisberger

Joe Flacco

Andrew Luck

Russell Wilson

Eli Manning (two SB wins merits his inclusion in top tier)

Tier 2: Midgrades

Phillip Rivers

Tony Romo

Matt Stafford

Colin Kaepernick

Cam Newton

Matt Ryan

Carson Palmer (when healthy)

Tier 3: Regular

Andy Dalton

Alex Smith

Ryan Tannehill

Nick Foles

Jay Cutler

Robert Griffin

Brian Hoyer (if he were to stay)

Tier 4: The Untested or Watered down

Teddy Twatwater

Blake Bortles

Derek Carr

Case Keesum

Zack Mettenberger/Jake Locker (whomever you want to say is TT starter)

Mike Glennon/Josh McCown (whomever you want to say is TB starter

Geno Smith

EJ Manuel (to whom Buffalo starting job defaults to after Orton retirement)

Sam Bradford/Austin Davis/Shaun Hill (whomever you want to say is Rams starter)

Notice of course which tier of QBs is still playing. Those teams with the best QBs.

Reply to Heirarchy on Fri, 09 Jan 2015 15:18:56 GMT

@<bdi>everlastingxxx</bdi> said:

Premium QBs or Elite ones are rare. Aside from Luck, the most pro ready QB to come out of college in a generation, and Wilson, who has to be an anomaly and has the drive and desire to be the best under 6' QB in the league, taken in the third round. Manning going to the Broncos was lateral because he took his offense with him after already having been in it multiple years.

We have to give a guy in one system a chance to get there at some point. I don't think the answer is a star rookie first rounder unless he is Andrew Luck. That's the only way to build from the top down.
