<![CDATA[Rumor: Browns to fire Pettine if Kubiak agrees?]]>I saw this posted over in the OBR, could be total bullshit. Never heard of the website but the publisher's bio had a real twitter page.

Sources inside the Cleveland Browns circle have said that if Browns owner Jimmy Haslem can convince Gary Kubiak to come to Cleveland the Browns would fire Mike Pettine as early as this week.

Pettine has only one year on the job and led the Browns to a 7-9 record in 2014. The 7-9 record was a three game improvement over 2013 when the team was coached by first year head coach Rob Chudzinski, who was fired last January.

Word is that Haslem wants an offensive minded coach that is the reason for the interest in Kubiak.

If Pettine is indeed fired and Kubiak hired it would be the fourth coach to work under Haslem since he took control of the team in October of 2012. Haslem fired Pat Shurmur after the 2012 season.

The Chicago Bears also have interest in Kubiak services. Kubiak the was the head coach of the Houston Texans from 2006 to midway through the 2012 season when he was fired. Kubiak served as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator this past season. The Ravens were eliminated from the playoffs this week by the New England Patriots.

Just like the talk before the Ravens game that Pettine had lost control of the locker room and the players were in rebellion and then they go out and play hard with nothing on the line in Baltimore and the Ravens playing for a post season. Pettine is building a real team in Cleveland. Just give him some time. Browns fans are rightfully frustrated after 14 years but they are just now putting in the right chess pieces to build a solid stable club. The last thing they need now would be tearing down the foundation they are laying by replacing Pettine with another coach.

I think we all know what happens if Mike Pettine were to be fired.
