So without trades, would you prefer Mariota/Winston, or Cooper/White/Parker, or Fowler/Beasley if one of them were to fall to us at 12 . I would "dream" Mariota. Then, Shelton at 19 (I can't see Scherff fall that far). Erving might be tempting if Mack is gone next year but we need a NT. Maxx (TE) won't fall to the third round so I would pick him in the second, but Strong or Beckmann-Green could fall to the third.

So my dream draft: Mariota, Shelton, Maxx, Strong. (And I don't know enough to go beyond our first four picks LOL.) I look at Harold as the edge rusher you settle for and Kendricks as the ILB you want. For me it's about stopping the run and Shelton/ Kendricks looks more promising than Shelton/ Harold.

I was arguing with myself about my last mock above. Would the Browns draft one of the top three wr's...say, Parker, then hope Shelton was there at 19? Or, might they nab Parker, or one of those top 3 wrs.... and nab Collins, if they knew a NT they would reach for later? Then another wr later, and all the rest defense? But I finally decided that

A. The Browns signed some nice veteran free agents at wr.

B. They must stop the run, and I don't see a NT that would be

    anywhere near a Shelton.

C. The Browns want a dominant defense.

D. I think the key in this division, is to dominate the los on both sides of the ball.

So, I really, really like the two wr sleepers I "drafted", although obviously they won't step in

NFL ready like Devante Parker. So, I went with Shelton and Collins. The other question was,

would Eli even be there? My second choice was Stephone Anthony instead of Harold at olb.

My favorite olb in this draft is Dupree, who will go in the top 15 or 20 picks. Beasely runs second to him, imhso.

I like Dupree, but not at 12. Should he fall to 19, I'd gladly nab him, but if not...

Yesterday Todd McShay labeled ILB, Eric Kendricks as the "best cover LB in the draft". That's a premium talent in Pet's scheme and settled me on a plyer that I've liked for a while. I think he's a bit early at 19, so I'd look to trade down a little, but if I can't get a trade down into the mid-20's, then I take him. This allows Robertson or Kirksey to move back outside. I think Craig has 3-down potential outside, but can share time with Mingo until we see what he brings to 2016.

Anyway here's my "dream"...

1.12 - Shelton NT

1.19 - Trade to mid-20's gaining mid-20's second

1.mid-20 - Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA

2.11 - Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart - He'd push Greco hard for RG. Could push John all the way to starting RT.

6.13 - Justin Manton, K, LA-Monroe - can't see standing pat at this position.

6.26 - Matt Jones, RB, Florida - I see him as a potential FB convert.

7.12 - BPA

So, yeah....3 and outs were an issue....but QB seems to be the reason.....and thats just 1 pick(if there is even one they like)....

Mudfly

Reply to Browns 2015 Dream Draft on Thu, 23 Apr 2015 09:59:23 GMT

How about Brandon Scherff

BrownsWolfsburg

Reply to Browns 2015 Dream Draft on Thu, 23 Apr 2015 05:46:18 GMT

You mean.... offense...too -many- three and outs?

calfoxwc

Reply to Browns 2015 Dream Draft on Thu, 23 Apr 2015 03:31:51 GMT

I see a lot of defenseive picks.
"they say" that Collins is one of the safest picks in the first round.

I really like Cameron Irving, but I would be surprised if he is still there

That is what is tough about mocks. Mud,

I'm not big on Prewitt much, but Holliman - wasted pick, I wouldn't

even sign him as an UFA.

That's how I ended up picking Harris in the third round - a very weak draft for safeties, but I

really like Harris., and I think he's gone somewhere in the late third round and is the last

of the safeties I'd draft, so...I had to grab him early.

I like both of your second round options, but I figured they would both be gone, realistically.

And Sammie Coates would be a great fit, I don't know how soft his hands are... but my mock

kept going one way and then another, and usually I couldn't fit Sammie in until he was already

supposed to be gone - which I think is by the end of round 2.

Yeah...Im not that high on Holliman either....I just have this nervous twitch about getting some safeties this year.....

Gotta say...it's really hard to mock when no one else is taking players off the board.....dont know whos gonna be there or not, but def tried to keep it real on who might......

Mudfly

Reply to Browns 2015 Dream Draft on Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:37:11 GMT

That is what is tough about mocks.
NT is probably a high probability in the first round. I agree that OL is a luxury given our current roster and the depth of this draft. You are right that OLB needs to be addressed early, so if not in the first round, it's a second round must!

Frenchie

Reply to Browns 2015 Dream Draft on Tue, 21 Apr 2015 19:43:09 GMT

@<bdi>calfoxwc</bdi> said:

So, Frenchie, what do you think? This mock is the best I can muster.

This draft is going to be crazy.

I like Shelton, the TE (go buckeyes!) and two WR's (I can see that happening). I'm surprised by Collins and Harris in a dream draft. I think we would dream better with a NT and #1 WR in a dream first round. My fear is that NT Shelton is gone by 12 and Brown by 19. We might have to go Parker and best available NT, OLB, or OL.

Frenchie
