Hadn't heard about it until then.

I don't get why the police fired so many shots, including the guy standing on the bonnet firing shots through the windscreen - presumably, had they a gun, the policeman would have been in some danger, unless the suspects were already dead or incapacitated, in which case there's no need.

I don't get why the suspects decided that it was a good idea to try to flee when the police tried to pull them over, thought they could outrun the police in a presumably shitty car (if it's backfiring) - does Cleveland PD have a support helicopter for these things? I know we do over here but we're a lot less spread out, so it requires fewer to cover the same amount of people. You just can't outrun those things.

No clue. Felons with long criminal histories have a demonstrated lack of good decision making. They could have panicked for no reason.

I understand the use of deadly force to prevent anyone else from getting hurt, but 137 shots seems excessive and inefficient.
