I have had dogs for my entire life, 45 years, and never has this happened.

He goes into the vet tomorrow, and I am very scared for him.

He is a big, young, very active dog, so from what I have learned, he can beat this, but still, it sucks

Anyone else have to deal with this? He was tested 7 months ago and he was fine, now he is positive for it

We always used the heartworm pills, they say you should

use them in the winter, but I never thought so.

But you're in Ohio, we are, too. At least they spray in a lot of urban areas.

We're on a farm, so.....

calfoxwc

Reply to Heartworm in my dog on Tue, 30 Jun 2015 00:20:53 GMT

He had a shot and had to stay overnight at the vet. Now we have to wait until July 16 for the rest of the treatment. He will get another shot that day, stay overnight again. Then he gets another shot the next day, and he has to stay ovenight again. Then hopefully ever thing is good.

The hardest part is he has to remain calm. No walks around the neighborhood, no chacing the rabbits and gophers in the yard. He is already going stir crazy having to stay in the house almost all day.

Browns149

Reply to Heartworm in my dog on Mon, 29 Jun 2015 23:50:07 GMT

Hope Brutus is ok, please update us.

paul warfield

Reply to Heartworm in my dog on Sat, 13 Jun 2015 22:09:02 GMT

Poor lil guy.....hope it goes well for him (and you!)....

I was just thinking today I probably better get my dogs on heartworm pills. I usually do not give my dogs heartworm medicine until mosquito season as that is how they get the heartworms. Hopefully some things are going to work in your favor such as your dog being young and strong as well as the dog must have gotten the heartworms recently and maybe they won't be advanced. Hoping you will get a good report from the vet.

OldBrownsFan
