These are the "Cleveland 20". These are the 20 QBs who have created riotous times for the fans of the Cleveland Browns. (and I don't mean that in the way of "party time"...I mean actual riots.

Some say how bad the Browns are for the QBs that play here. Evidence here tends to suggest that it was not the Browns that were bad for these QB, but it was these QBs that were bad for the Browns (except with maybe a couple of exceptions.

The following is the record of the 20 QBs that have started for the Browns since 1999...and who have been shown the door. First is their record with the Browns.....then their record after they left the Browns. It is not a pretty picture really....either way:

QB......w/Browns.....after Browns

Ty Detmer... 0-2.....1-3

Tim Couch.....22-37.....0-0

Doug Pederson.....1-7.....0-0

Spergon Wynn.....0-1.....0-2

Kelly Holcomb.....4-8.....4-7

Jeff Garcia.....3-7.....20-15

Luke McCown.....0-4.....2-4

Trent Dilfer.....4-7.....1-5

Charlie Frye.....6-13.....1-3

Derek Anderson.....16-18.....4-7

Brady Quinn.....3-9.....1-7

Ken Dorsey.....0-3.....0-0

Bruce Gradkowski.....0-1.....4-5

Colt McCoy....6-15.....1-3

Jake Delhomme.....2-2.....0-0

Seneca Wallace.....1-6.....0-1

Brandon Weeden.....5-15.....0-4

Thad Lewis.....0-1.....2-3 #

Jason Campbell.....1-7.....0-0

Brian Hoyer.....10-6.....4-3

# Thad Lewis came back to Browns after original stint...but did not start a game. His record is all from his first time here.

Note: The other 4 players that have started (or will start) a game for the Browns are all still here: Josh McCown, John Manziel, Connor Shaw, Austin Davis.

Reply to The Cleveland 20 on Fri, 04 Dec 2015 19:03:18 GMT

O'Neil's defense lost us games, and yet Mike and O'Neil haven't fixed the problems. Someone said Josh McCown wants to come back because, for one reason, it would be the first time you played the same offensive scheme two years in a row.

As with head coach front office etc is part of that problem pulling the plug too soon? I think in a lot of cases it probably is.

Also how many successful coaches have had some success in their first year in their second and still come back for your number 3?

The sad thing is, we got pretty good QB play this year. God forbid we have a running game to help out. We literally can't run the ball at all, and we have much of the same personnel. Wish I could explain it. Let's give Duke Johnson 20 carries next game, no matter the score, just to see what he does. Crow ain't cutting the mustard.

jiggins7919

Reply to The Cleveland 20 on Fri, 04 Dec 2015 02:57:23 GMT

This is a glaring example of the lack of talent that Farmer, et al have been bringing to Cleveland.

Canton Dawg

Reply to The Cleveland 20 on Thu, 03 Dec 2015 22:20:52 GMT

So all that means is that we're due....right? I was always under the impression that Jeff Garcia was a square peg in a round hole.....he was a West coast offense system guy here, but Butch Davis/Chud/Terry Robiskie...the HC and OCs of that team were not WCO guys. Here is maybe the one guy where Cleveland was not good with him.

Brian Hoyer is the other. He is 4-3 in his starts since leaving the Browns. He may have been a guy that could have been a keeper....but free agency called to him.

5 of these QBs did not get another start with an NFL team after leaving the Browns.

The "Cleveland 20"s combined record with the Browns was 84-169. Their combined record after the Browns was/is 45-72.

Only Hoyer is a starting QB for an NFL team today. No one besides he and Garcia ever had a regular starting gig with another NFL team after leaving the Browns.

Only Holcomb (11), Anderson (11) and Garcia (35) ever had as many as 10 starts in their career after leaving the Browns (Hoyer could join them).

So....bottom line is: No.....the Cleveland Browns with one possible exception have not been a bane to good QBs in this league. They have been a bane to us.

The Gipper
