<![CDATA[Ifo Ekpre-Olomu close to returning from ACL injury]]> Browns' Ifo Ekpre-Olomu says he's close to return after ACL injury

After missing the entirety of the 2015 season, Cleveland Browns cornerbackIfo Ekpre-Olomu wrote that he's close to returning to action.

Ekpre-Olomu was considered to be a potential first-round pick before tearing his ACL in December 2014, during his final collegiate season atOregon.

Cleveland selected Ekpre-Olomu in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and the 22-year-old sat out his first professional campaign while recovering from the injury.

After enduring a 16-month rehabilitation period, Ekpre-Olomu wrote in anInstagram post that he's making excellent progress in his recovery:

Thank you lord for an amazing life and even more for the amazing people around me. Although this past year has had many ups and downs, I'm finally close to the point I want to be. Now it's time to get better as a player and person. A lot of people have asked about my recovery. I'm not quite 100 yet but I'm close and in the next couple of weeks I'll show you some of the progress I've made. Thank you everyone who has been following me through this journey.

The Browns allowed 27 points per game in 2015, the fourth-worst total in the league, and Ekpre-Olomu would be a welcome addition to an erratic defensive group.

I don't see any reason he wouldn't make a good FS.....he's definitely willing to mix it up and has the talent....looking fwd to whatever he's gonna show us in the next few weeks?.....I did read that he plans to participate in mini camps, etc....which is excellent! 🙂

If he doesn't, he's done. Mike Pettine loves his CBs, and Ray Horton *was* a DB, so if Gilbert can't improve under both, he's basically done. Might get a role as KR/PR somewhere.

Not sure what to expect from Gilbert, but hoping this staff puts him on the field and lets him play some. And would expect to see him back returning kicks. Its a fresh start for him, so lets hope he takes advantage.

On a side note, he and Olomu have the same scouting report and style of play....as well as the same weaknesses.....basically, overly aggressive players who have little technique and rely on their physical gifts to get by and beat WR's.....sooooo, let's see if some new coaches can help both develop some technique....we know Gilbert struggled with it....and I think Olomu will need to develop it, as his physical gifts are likely to be diminished....

My lord! That's virtually unheard of these days. From what little I've heard about this young man, he's an excellent person and somebody people like to root for. It usually takes another year after surgery for many players to get back to where they want to be (usually mentally), but this guy could really provide a nice boost for us. Perhaps take the place of what Gilbert was supposed to be? Speaking of Gilbert, is there any chance he could thrive under a different coaching group?

Ifo dislocated his knee cap in addition to tearing his ACL. I remember seeing the injury and the knee was bulging where a knee should not bulge. The knee cap gets into Patellar tendon damage.

So tendon(s) vs. a second ligament???
