1978 Steve Little K Cardinals

1979 Russell Erxleben P Saints

2000 Sebastian Janikowski K Raiders (still kicking for them)

Steve Little ... forgot all about him.

There was an era in the mid-to-late 70's where these college kickers at Arkansas and Texas were like rock stars. Little, Erxleben, Tony Franklin, and Steve Cox ... who kicked for us.

They were allowed to kick off of tees, and they were long-distance specialists, Little made a 67-yarder in a game.

Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and he was deadly inconsistent as a Kicker and a poor punter, even though he held down both jobs simultaneously for a while.

Liked to drink and supposedly married a nutjob former Arkansas Cheerleader ... got a reputation as a head case.

Cardinals brought in another kicker for a tryout in the middle of the season, they had a competition, Little made one less FG and they cut him on the spot in front of his teammates.

That night he went out to drown his sorrows and wrapped his sports car around a utility pole at 2:00 AM. Lived the rest of his life as a quadriplegic and died unceremoniously in his 40's.

But he made a 67 yard FG and you didn't.
