It all comes down to the odds that he can be 'the guy.' The greater the odds are, the more you will be willing to give up for him.

By the way, I heard Bill Polian this morning. And he agreed. He said that the most that should be traded for JG is a mid 2d round pick. He says JG is decent talent, and yes, he can play in the NFL...but that is all he would give up for him.

• Flashback to the previous administration and coaching staff. Shanny wanted Carr or Garopollo as the Browns QB. Sashi Brown is an analytics guy. Analytics would've said don't draft Manziel due to his physical stature. Brown has also hinted that he didn't support Manziel deal.
• Farmer drafts Manziel. We don't know if that was driven by Farmer, Haslem, or both, but Farmer did take responsibility for it. We all know the history of tweets to start Manziel that drove a rift in the organization.
• As a result, Pettine and Farmer are out, and the guy who probably agreed with Shanny about the QB pick is promoted to GM.
• The Mingo deal established a relationship between the current front office in Berea and the Patriots. I contend this deal wasn't just about getting a draft pick for Mingo. It was about laying the groundwork for an eventual future deal.
• Next, we get the Collins deal. This builds further trust and demonstrates to both sides that the other side is willing to make major deals with the other.

We all know that the Browns have the most assets to make the deal, and I contend that Brown has probably had an interest in Garopollo since he was drafted.
