It's a wild

year for the NFL draft. Of all the players I have reviewed, I picked players that will

make the squealers cry and drown their sorrows in weird, stale three rivers scum water beer.

When applicable, I want to get some defensive and offensive players with speed.

First round: First pick.

Garrett - can't figure out any way the Browns don't draft him. He's all that, and more.

LOCK

First round: 12th pick.

Trubisky - I believe Trubisky is destined to be there at 12. No lock. If he's gone, who the

heck knows - O.J. Howard, TE, would be an option, but more and more, he is being

talked about as being a top five pick. So, if both Trubisky and Howard are gone, I predict

a lot of us will be ROF,L at how wrong we were. If he is gone, ...Kizer ? Could be Kizer,

if Trubsie is gone to the Jets at six.

Second round: First pick, 33rd overall.

It's a great draft for cbs. Trouble is, maybe 8 of them could go in the first round.

But there is plenty of outstanding talent here. But most of the strong talent at cb will be gone

after the second round, maybe...

I think Gareon Conley, Ohio State, would be

my pick here, except I think he's long gone in the first round. So, my pick would be either one

of these two - I think King is my pick.

Kevin King, CB, 6'3", 200 lbs, 4.43

---OR----

Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado, Sr, 6-0, 202, 4.43

Second round: 20th pick, 52nd overall (via trade with Titans in 2016).

strong safety thumper - big time special teams guy:

Josh Jones*, S, N.C. State, 6'1", 220, 4.41

Third round: First pick, 65th overall.

Need TE destined for greatness - it could be this kid. Roughly compared to

Gronk - but the Browns would really have something. He could drop ten lbs,

get to 4.6, and like all my picks, the rest of the division will hate that the Browns

have picked them. My guess is, he won't go in the second round, because some teams

that really are looking to draft him, don't have four picks in the first two rounds like the Browns !

Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
Height: 6-6. Weight: 278. Arm: 33.5. Hand: 9.63. 40 Time: 4.79.

Fourth round: First pick, 108th overall.

gets tougher as we go along - I think Ogunjobi, DL, went in the late third round. too bad.

But, how much a dramatic impact would he be? My premise is, I want to draft solid guys,

on and off the field, who love the game, smart, tough, who will make the squealers say "oh, sh*t, look who the Browns got "

So, even if Ogunjobi is here, I pick a dramatic impact player. Several teams will be po'd - but the

Browns, with their extra picks, don't have to wait til the 5th round !

Brian HIll is another pick that the sqealers and ratbirds and bengals will be sorry

they have to face the Browns will this addition to their offense. This might be

a surprise, but I love this particular pick. It's brilliant. Oh, hell yeah.

*** Brian Hill, 6'1", 219 lbs, 4.54, RB. ***

Fourth round: 36th pick, 142nd overall (compensatory pick).

Going to add a free safety here - the secondary is no longer going to be a weakness:

David Jones, FS, 6'1 '205, 4.35, FS only fell this far because he broke his arm.

---OR---

Rayshawn Jenkins, 6'1", 220, 4.43 hard hitting FS/SS

Fifth round: First pick, 145th overall.

great value in db's... not so much in wr's. This kid is worth a chance - he is a player,

and will have to learn a lot - but watch out when he is ready.

Zach Pascal, WR, 6'2", 220, 4.48, Old Dominion

With two extra fifth round picks, these picks, if they are even here, I would draft them

in a NY second. These two guys will surprise. Develop some fast linebackers.

Fifth round: 32st pick, 177th overall. (via trade with Patriots in 2016).

Dylan Donahue, OLB, West Georgia,6-3, 248,4.67

Fifth round: 38th pick, 183rd overall (compensatory pick).

Dylan Cole, OLB, 6'3", 233 lbs, 4.57

Sixth round: First pick, 187th overall.

HAHA, I am drafting this kid at the end of the draft because he did a pretty good job

at RT protecting our new qb, Trubisky. Has high upside.

could end up on practice squad, development RT

Jon Heck, OT, North Carolina, 6'6", 300, ORT

I have noted somewhere, that the Browns were kinda looking at this TE...

probably free agent practice squad material:

Only one vid on him from '15 vs. Tennessee.

OK run blocker on opponent at least shading him. Problematic anticipation if further away. Saw him downfield once crossfield... way late to any possible target. Called for holding on his first reverse seal attempt, but in at least three repeat assignments fared better. Too slow to cut off LB blasting inside to stuff 3rd & short attempt. O-fer the game on 2nd level assignments. Couple well executed cut blocks for which he was called for a chop once, but it was a marginal call as replay showed OG had disengaged prior to contact below the waist.

Pretty much a liability in PassPro until very late in the game. Early was hopping into position and being driven back by a much smaller Vol DE. Barely got to speed rushes, but did get to nearly every one. QB had to step up on most of them. Starting in Q3 he was getting RB help chipping wide rushers. Fared a little better vs. bigger DE subbed in in 2nd half. In Q3 was still hopping... bigger DE caught him mid-hop and ripped him to ground. Whiffed an inside blitz, part of a jailbreak, on own 2-yard-line that netted TN a safety when QB was buried. Strong tendency to head-dip and engage with pads rather than extend arms... punch was never displayed.

Very late in the tape, like the last series late, the hop was gone and a step-slide appeared. Don't know if it was fatigued induced or what, but it gave him more control. Maybe something there to work with? I'd be curious to see if he improved in 2016.

Did get distracted by a couple Vandy RBs... especially #7, Ralph Webb, 5'10 200, who ripped off a nice run up the middle at the 1:20 mark showing acceleration, speed and more than a little power. Had a couple of nice other efforts as well. Apparently he's staying in school.

Also a couple nice runs by #28, Dallas Rivers... also apparently staying put. not as "electric" as Webb, but maybe more power at 6'1 226.

Holden is #74...

The first round and top of round 2 don't seem bad at all. I'd consider Vandy's OT William Holden in round 5 instead of the WR. He's a 3 year starter that played right and left tackle projecting to be a RT or OG in the NFL. My take on WRs is we have a bunch of them that look like 5th rounders at this point so if we're going to go WR - go up high enough to where you can get a Cooper Kupp or a Zay Jones. They run nice routes, get open and CATCH the ball. I'm thinking our new slot Receiver is going to be Seth DeValve. If Potsy Gordon returns, they may move Coleman there for however long Gordon can pass the piss tests. He's fooled me about 3 or 4 times already so I stopped looking forward to celebrating the 12th of Never.

Flugel

Reply to Calfox's Ultra-STUPendous Mega-Kickass 2017 BROWNS MOCK DRAFT on Sat, 01 Apr 2017 17:44:27 GMT

Thanks, I can't wait to see your mock.
Biggest reach I see, yes, even bigger than Trubs, is Heck at top of the 6th. He's strictly UDFA material. Not many collegiate RTs from middle-of-the-pack programs, e.g., UNC, go on to play OT in the NFL. There is simply very little good value in the OL prospects beyond Day 2 in this draft... and not all that much in Days 1 and 2 TBH.

Instead of Heck another CB would be a way to go. CBs are pretty deep this draft... as they tend to be in most draft classes. Not as deep are the Safeties... so I would tend to go more in their direction in R2. But you did land King, who many think will end up being a FS in the NFL. Your broken-armed FS is also a small school kid, so he may well slide to Day 3. Jenkins should go at least a round before him... probably two.

*** Brian Cole, 6'1", 219 lbs, 4.54, RB.

Andrey Avgi, TE

Thanks Cal! I like a lot of those ideas except for the TE. We've got family here so I'll give you more thoughts on this tomorrow.

Flugel
