Browns pick at one, if they stay there?

Why is Garrett starting to sound a lot like Mingo, to me, now?

The NFL is big league physical.. combat on the los. Is Garrett up to being a

warrior? or... not a physical fighter off the los, and not being what you envision?

Is Garrett the de with the intensity, the love for the game, hand to hand combat guy,

or more a softer pass rusher that isn't into the physical battles. No "mean streak" ?

Suppose the better pick is Jamal Adams. A dynamic, fast, ass-kicking safety that could

surely be an All-Pro force on defense.

Suppose with a draft deep in edge rushers, you could get an edge rusher that plays

with intensity/mean streak later... and get Adams with the first overall pick?

Maybe Allen with the first pick - plays anywhere on the defensive line, and get an edge rusher

later? that would rock.

I KNOW Allen and Solomon Thomas (who some think is a later on pick), and Adams

have that football mean streak, not sure about Garrett.

What if it isn't Garrett at one? Maybe we should all set our drinks down until after they announce

the pick....

Reply to The New "Hold on, What if" thread for the first round on Mon, 10 Apr 2017 16:35:30 GMT

@<bdi>darren15</bdi> said:

Can't we just take Vontae Mack ?

Don't know. But I have a 7th grade QB getting ready for the Browns. The high school team got all the way to the state finals in Jerryworld and their coaches who have seen this kid's talent think they might have won if he had already gotten to high school by then. This is one like Bamas that Sumlin needs to get in on now. Truly amazing kid. And he just won district in the 200 m dash in 24 seconds, just 4 seconds off the American college record while just cruising in the last 25 meters or so because he was so far ahead. He can spin it on a rope running either direction sideline to sideline. He also came in 1st in powerlifting with a combined total of 645 lbs for bench + squat + dead lift. 7th grade! Unreal.

TexasAg1969

Reply to The New "Hold on, What if" thread for the first round on Mon, 10 Apr 2017 00:59:41 GMT

How well does Pop Warner correlate to the NFL?

Tour2ma

Reply to The New "Hold on, What if" thread for the first round on Sun, 09 Apr 2017 23:56:48 GMT

Honestly im thinking save our picks to deal next year.
When I did my mock draft I had the toughest time with pick #12 because I came to the realization that so many of the guys I would really like will probably be gone there. The 1 guy I thought would STILL be available at #12 was Derek Barnett; but I already had us taking Garrett at #1 so..... I opted to reach on a WR (JuJu Smith-Schuster) that Kessler established a great chemistry with at USC in 2015 (89 receptions 1454 yds and 10 TDs). As expected, that went over in here like a fart in church.

The difference between Garrett and Barnett brings us to 3 possible options:

1. Draft the QB at #1 - We're told by (Hoorta & Gipper) the President and VP of Camp Trubisky that he will be gone long before pick #12. They're probably right. Therefore, if we could get a guy like Derek Barnett at #12 (who had more sacks and TFLs for losses in the SEC over the last 3 years than Myles Garrett) - our FO could be thinking they draft their #1 QB at #1 and take Barnett at #12. If I had to take a QB first - it would be Trubisky. From what I've read, the only QB this fan base would even give a chance to in here in round 1 is Trubisky. Every time I mentioned Watson he got more skins crawling in here than Colt McCoy

2. Draft the QB at #12 after taking Garrett at #1, which could be Watson, Kizer or Mahomes.

3. Draft the QB later without reaching. That allows us to take Garrett 1st, BPA at #12 and let the draft come to us. I suppose another option could be to take the best Safety 1st, Barnett at #12 and let the draft come to us.

Whether we like it or not, most FO and Head Coach tandems live and die with what's at QB. Seeing how many faves could be gone at #12 when I tried to do my mock - I could live with the choice to pick a QB in round 1 but option #3 above remains my fave.
