<p>One of the guys from our wine club played for the Redskins in 1954. (don't know if he was a starter or not, Marvin was very low key about it)  He made $4,000. To give you an idea of inflation- in 1950 you could buy a 4 bedroom house on Long Island for $12,500.  A decent car was around $1,000.</p>

<p>Early 60s Jim Brown was the first NFL player to crack the $100,000 barrier.
