<![CDATA[Quarterbacks on the Hot Seat]]>Listening to some radio this morning and this subject came up: Which starting QBs for NFL teams may be on the "Hot Seat" this year....and in danger of losing their jobs. Here are some potential candidates:

Jets QB....whoever they have will be on the hot seat. Josh McCown? He certainly is.

Blake Bortles...Jags. No doubt probably the hottest of them all. Consensus is that he has underachieved for a #3 overall pick....so, he should/could likely be hearing footsteps.

Ryan Tannehill.....Dolphins....to me, it seems, he is only a few degrees behind Bortles in terms of how hot his seat is. He has been just average enough not to lose his job, but not good enough to take it by the horns to the point that his team is anything but average at best.

Andy Dalton?? Bengals. Seems to me he could have issues holding off McCarron. If things go badly for the Bengals...and I predict that they will, he could be in line to be benched.

Browns QBs. Like the Jets...the position is not stabilized...so whomever gets the start is by no means certain of getting the finish.

Mike Glennon. Bears If Bears get off to poor start...around mid season there could be clamoring to replace him with their #2 overall pick, Trubisky.

Tom Savage. Texans. I understand he is the starter...going in. But he was only a late season replacement last year....and the DATs took a QB at #10 (or was it #12?). They may see Watson as their version of Dak Prescott.

Trevor Siemian. Broncos. Can he even be said to be their starter? The have a 1st round pick in the wings.....so his hold on the starter job there is clearly tenuous.

Jared Goff. Rams. Yes, the #1 overall pick has started....but no one has praised his performances....though what have they got to go with instead? Case Keenum? Still an iffy deal.

Brian Hoyer. 49ers. While I put him in here, I probably shouldn't. He SHOULD be on the hot seat...but his backups are Matt Barkley....so that is what really makes Hoyer's position solid. They got rid of probably their best QB when Kaepernick opted out. And IMO...the 49ers are bucking hard for that #1 overall pick next year to get a new "savior" into the fold.

Reports I heard are that it's a partial tear of the same ligament that partially tore late last season and was not surgically repaired, but rested and treated with "stem cell therapy". Must have been a bad batch of stem cells.

Seems like 9 times out of 10 when surgery is not elected, it is just delayed.

We're heading for a real upheaval at the top of the active QB list... Brees (38.6), Rivers (35.8), Ben (35.4), Tom (40)... all likely gone by the 2020 season. Rodgers maybe a couple seasons behind...
