	First... condolences to those few who took WSH +7, but I needed the point more than you did... not to mention the IDP points from one of my starting LBs... <img src="https://brownsboard.com/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f61b.png?v=00a0b17bbb1" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--stuck_out_tongue" title=":stuck_out_tongue:" alt="😛" /></p>

<p>
	Second... and here's the weird part. Throughout the game I was getting this weird feeling that I was watching our 2018 starting QB, Alex Smith. Hear me out here...
</p>

<p>
	This year Alex has shown the chops to play the way Hue wants to play... taking shots downfield... and has the mobility Hue like to boot... (even if he never moves the pocket, but I digress). Except for some footspeed Alex could be RG3's brother from another... and we all know that RG rocked Hue's world.
</p>

<p>
	So the stage is set. However, I'm not one, or at least I don't think I'm one, to take flights of fancy, so I did a little research.
</p>

<p>
	<em>First, might Alex be available?</em> Yes. With Mahommes ripening on the vine and as high as the Chiefs reportedly are him, especially after the preseason he posted, it's easy to see them going to him in 2018. Only exception might be if the Chiefs win the SB. Anything short of that and the Chief's brass should be receptive.
</p>

<p>
	<em>Second, do the Chiefs have the control to do a deal?</em> Let's face it, if Alex is in a contract year, then there are other places that would be interested and he would likely prefer. But Alex <em>is </em>under contract thru 2018. So check that box...
</p>

<p>
	<em>Third, do the Chiefs have any motivation to trade Alex other than paving the way for Mahommes? </em>Yes... and it's spelled C - A - P...
</p>

<p>
	Here's Alex's contracted total 2018 salary in <strong>bold </strong>with the guaranteed portion <u>underlined</u>:
</p>

<table><tbody><tr><td>
				2018
			</td>
			<td>
				$14,500,000
			</td>
			<td>
				$3,600,000
			</td>
			<td>
				$2,000,000
			</td>
			<td>
				$500,000
			</td>
			<td>
				$0
			</td>
			<td>
				<strong>$20,600,000</strong>
			</td>
			<td>
				11.6%
			</td>
			<td>

			</td>
			<td>
				<div>
					<div>
						$<u>3,600,000</u>
					</div>
				</div>
			</td>
			<td>
				<div>
					$17,000,000
				</div>
			</td>
		</tr></tbody></table><p>
	Here's KC's 2018 Cap situation:
</p>

<div>
	<div>
		<span>Total Cap Liabilities: $178,790,902</span> - Top 51: $173,062,485 - <strong>Team Cap Space: <span>(<span style="color:#c0392b">$790,902</span>)</span></strong>
	</div>
</div>

<p>
	Yup... they are over the cap... website pun not intended... <a href="https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/kansas-city-chiefs" rel="external nofollow">https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/kansas-city-chiefs</a>  so color them motivated dealers.
</p>

<p>
	Could be a flight of fancy... could also be a backdoor plan. Especially would fit the scenario where we never get sure about Kizer in 2017 and aren't sold on any one QB in the draft.

	Not saying it will happen... just had a feeling and checked to see if its plausible. It is.
</p>

<p>
	As for Smith's choice... if he's traded he doesn't have one.
</p>

<p>
	Restructure? How much of his $20mm would he be willing to give back for the possibility of not playing?
</p>

<p>
	Again... talking plausibility, not inevitability.

	put urself in Smith's shoes, if KC can't pay you...will you restructure or stand firm knowing they have leverage cause of Mahommes? He risks getting traded to, gulp, the Browns.....he'll settle for less to stay in KC bank on it. Or some guarantee that KC won't trade him to the Browns. KC has an elite defense and wr's that catch balls thrown at their dicks. He's not coming to Cleveland.

	I was thinking today that KC is in a great position to sell high on Smith. If they feel that Mahomes will be ready to start, there's no reason not to turn smith into a 1st rounder. Don't know if it will be the Browns, but someone will gladly take Alex off the chiefs hands

	I wanted alex smith years ago but in the tradition of clev fans i was shouted down cause his arm aint strong enough. I watched him laser one last night into the endzone from 40 some yds away. First thing i thought was "oh what a noodle arm im so happy he nrver came to clev"?
</p>

<p>
	Anyway, not sure i want him now. He's been in the league 13 years and is getting 20m a year. Plus, the chiefs are a legit sb contender so they're not handing the team to mahommes anytime soon. He's 2-3 years "min" from being ready. Having him sit behind alex smith for a couple years is the perfect scenario for the chiefs and "they know it". Mahommes will backup smith prob till the last year of his rookie contract

<p>
	OK Tour- I can almost buy what you're selling. You know how I feel about Kizer. He needs to improve about 100% to just be average. I hope he can, but I'm not counting on it. Me and the Ghoolster have been having (believe it or not) a sane discussion of our QB problem on FaceBook. His 0.02? A switch to Hogan, we start winning games sends Hue the "Not QB Guru" packing. Of course, if Kizer keeps stinking up the place, we finish around 2-14 will IMHO send Hue out the door too, move over, say hello to Williams as HC. Keep playing on this level, we'll be damn lucky to win two games. Maybe getting Garrett, Shelton, and Collins back will make a difference on defense- we'll see.
</p>

<p>
	Can't see us swapping 1st round picks with KC- one of our second rounders should do it. ++++ right now, the Browns are solidly in the running in the Darnold Derby (or Josh Allen). Four teams 0-4, we have more ammunition than any of them.
</p>

<p>
	Hey, I'm not hoping for a miracle turnaround- but this is year two. Let's see some progress. I can't put all the blame on Deshone- but Hue can't just keep trotting him out there to finish up when he's having another bad (make that horrendous) game. Um Hue, he's statistically the worst QB in the NFL- hope you realize that- the fans sure do.

	My real guess was posted on the other thread. We stay the course and add the skilled players we lack hoping by a miracle that Coleman for once can stay injury free and JG can stay clean. But still go after RB, WR and CB with all those high choices and a FS for sure. If this is not in the Havaad plan then they need to go back for grad school.
</p>

<p>
	Of course this still does not cure Hue into using his inexperienced QB properly, but the FO can't fix that.
</p>

<p>
	PS-Would I also like to add Smith as the QB for Kizer to learn from? You bet! He is one very smart QB who knows exactly what defenses are trying to do against him. He don't need no Hue.
</p>

<p>
	PS again-How did you like that 3 TE formation KC used for the TD?
</p>

<p>
	And another PS-best play I saw was the pulling RG coming across the formation making the keying LBs go to their right as the cutback runner went through the hole opened by the vacated RG. Genius!

	Wouldn't hurt to keep the deal real, Ag...
</p>

<p>
	Thought about it some and I think the one year remaining on his deal keeps the price "reasonable"... maybe swap 1st rounders? Could have been the Texans' 1st, but they're don't seem to be cooperating like they were.
</p>

<p>
	While normally I'd be vary of that kind of price for a one-year contract, but the use of the tag does get you a second year for $22.6.
