The White House’s midyear budget projections see federal deficits surpassing $1 trillion in 2019.

In an annual budget review, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) estimated that new legislation enacted since the release of its February budget — alongside new projections on other spending and receipts — would add $101 billion more to the 2019 deficit, pushing it above $1 trillion.

That figure would amount to 5.1 percent of the United States's gross domestic product, the nation’s total economic output.

The midyear budget review was released quietly on Friday.

Estimates from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office had forecast the deficit to near $1 trillion in 2019, but not pass it until 2020.

Budget watchdogs said that deficits had doubled in recent years as a result of bipartisan spending agreements and the GOP tax-cut law passed in December.

"This is a striking acknowledgement following almost two years of claims that economic growth unleashed by these policies will wipe deficits away,” said Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

The budget outlook maintained the rosy economic projections the Trump White House has used in previous forecasts, but seemed to indicate a slight retreat from an earlier promise.

Trump officials have regularly argued that the administration’s policies would lead to sustained economic growth of 3 percent over 10 years, well above mainstream projections. In its updated budget outlook, OMB’s average growth rate dropped under 3 percent over the decade, dipping below the target as of 2025.

The White House also projected that corporate profits would grow 13 percent over a decade, while employee compensation would surge 68 percent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that hourly wages have grown just 2.7 percent in the past year, though once inflation was taken into account the number fell to zero.

No president is going to do what needs to be done on the budget so they are all guilty in that regard. He talked a big game but just cut taxes and didn’t do anything to try and tighten the belt. So less money is coming in and the money going out stayed the same. Tax cuts personally are nice for the short term but I am in my 30s. At some point, my generation will get left holding the bag of dog Sheet.

that's a fact and I said as much. More than him though I blame the Republican Congress who could have held firm and forced necessary change at the beginning of the administration. By then the Democrats and the lefties would have had a long time to bitch and their message would have evaporated

The border wall has been one giant joke. Trump lacks any sense so he blabbed that horse crap about the Mexicans being the one who will pay for it because he knew the price tag would be absurd. Well, there was no chance of Mexico paying for that. Sell the idea of the tax payer funded wall. Don’t tell Paul Bunyan tall tales to try and get the public to be on board.

I've said before I think the border wall is a stupid idea but I've also said that I believe it's a chip to be played rather than something somebody really believes in. Kind of like the Star Wars program forcing the rusty to build up their defenses against something we never really thought it was going to work.

This cowering in front of Putin then trying to squirm out of having done it is just the latest gripe I have with the guy.

and I don't think there was any cowering in front of Putin. As I've said before when Trump is bombastic people bitch. When he's not bombastic now people bitch. I've stated my opinion on the so-called Russian meddling. We have been harsher toward the Russians that any previous administration at people are mad because Trump didn't flipp Putin the bird.

Before the usual suspects go “buh buh Hillary/Obama”, they were awful too. The American public got two garbage candidates to choose from. Everyone should have had to hold their nose. That doesn’t mean the least stinky dumpster all of a sudden became something other than a stinky dumpster.

yes of course everybody does it but that's the reason I'm pissed about the budget. They had a chance and they blew it. there will probably never be a three-point power play again.

That last part isn’t directed at you, Steve. You are generally pretty pragmatic. I just hate the current cult mentality that American politics is going through.

unfortunately I wouldn't predict it was going to get any better in the future. The sides hate each other, to an extent not seen since the Nixon Administration.

	1) Why pictures and no links?

	2) You say you know the difference but you fooled me in your initial post. Because $1T was not "added to the deficit".

It just underscores the futility of voting in the first place. Republicans could have approach this from an austerity angle and really tightened up the US economy debt and deficit. But they compromised. Now it stinks worse than it did before but not as bad as will stink a few years from now.

Neither team wants to address the problem because they are cowards. They will drive till the wheels fall off then try to blame the other guy. That mentality has passed on to the people who are deeply invested in the team politics.

$1 trillion added to the debt. Deficit is different.

Obama at least moved it in the right direction while in office. We'll see how it continues to move now
