	An ideal pass rush off the edge is when the DE maintains his outside leverage on the OT while rushing to depth of the QB plant foot and clamping down on in. This is depicted in the film by Garrett when McCarron has to step up into the head lamp of an oncoming train.    Garrett didn't get the sack; but he's the reason Ogunjobi had a give-me. It shows us how important Garrett can be especially if we finally have a secondary that can actually cover WRs longer than a second.

	ive been talking about the power edge rush for years. Tgat means putting the tackle on ur shoulder and digging in. Neither ogbah nor nassib do it with any consistency. But that sack by garrett was caused by garretts inside move into the qb's vision lane, not ogbahs outside move.
</p>

<p>
	It only looks like ogbah carved the edge good because the qb had to spill to his left cause of garrets inside move. If garrett hadnt come inside the qb just steps up and the DE's get pushed wide. Thats the totality of the browns edge rush since pretty much 1999.
</p>

<p>
	Some of u prob firgot how i would roast kruger here weekly for not digging in to the edge. So now tgat some of u understand this move and its importance, keep an eye on it. See which of our guys can cleave off the tackles outside shoulders and who cant.

			Why maybe next to a franchise quarterback having one or better yet bookend DEs are the most valuable pieces on the board.

<p>
	Most important thing in modern football is the ability to pass the ball and the ability to stop the opposing QB from passing the ball.

<p>
	Exactly.   I thought our DEs last year did a nice job of clamping everything inside shortening the pursuit of teammates to the extent Schobert led the league in tackles while Meder had one of his best years ever against the run prior to injury and an unknown like Conley came out of nowhere to impress people at his DT position.  I know some guys don't like PFF stuff but Meder had an elite ranking at #2 or so vrs the run. Clevs disagrees with Gregg Williams about how good Ogbah was last year; but like all young players I'm sure he found some examples of inconsistency that made him feel that way.  Can't say but I like to read Clevs pov about DE play.
</p>

<p>
	I don't know the extent of Ogbah's foot injury but he doesn't look as good to me this year.  But, I'm not at the practices to see how he's doing.  I do notice Gregg Williams wants to kick him inside so I'm wondering if he's feeling like me in the sense that something is missing this year that he had last year.  Or, is it trial and error season like the absurdity of trying 4 consecutive passes at Philly's 1 yard line on offense for the 0 points that deserved in return?    Pre-season does tend to cloud fact from fiction as we've seen over the years when someone looks like they kicked tail in camp only to get cut.

	This may just be a coincidence, but Williams coached Jevon Kearse during his rookie of the year Edge Rush (14.5 sacks) that catapulted TN to the Superbowl while he also coached Will Smith (13 sacks) and New Orleans to their SB W over Indy in 2009...  Both guys never had more sacks in any 1 season in their career...

	Okay, let's see if another DE can cause a sack playing text book outside leverage at the depth of the QB drop back.  In this case, Ogbah does a nice of staying on the outside shoulder of the OT, getting to the depth of QB drop back and clamping down on in to the extent Garrett gets an easy sack here.
