I was ambivalent on the Watson trade. Wasn't mad to see Baker go as he hadn't shown enough to make a heavy investment in him. On paper Watson was definitely an upgrade at the time plus at the time precedent was 6 game suspension for sexual infractions but the Browns office forgot they're not the darling of the NFL Steelers where Roethlisberger can get away with proven rape with a slap on the wrist. Everything went south from there, Watson then went out with two successive season ending injuries and his mind is shot, just like Tiger Woods never attained greatness after his revelations. Now we have to be the butt of more jokes of the worst NFL trade ever as if the QB jersey wasn't enough.

On another note, very strange that the Texans organization whose facility where all this happened has never faced any legal consequences.

Mayfield put up 31 points against maybe the best defense in the league. Mayfield doesn't play defense. If you're comparing Mayfield to Watson...don't bother. It's a comparison you can't win. It was time for Mayfield to leave here. He was crucified by the media and fans, for playing hurt, his confidence was gone. I the organization had shown half the loyalty to him as they do with Watson, the Browns would be competitive. You brought up Lamar Jackson. Do you remember how crappy he played at times since 2018? The Baltimore fans wanted his ass gone before his new contract. The difference is Harbaugh. Harbaugh built an offense tailored for Jackson to succeed, and even with that, it was sketchy. You can hate Mayfield all you want, but he will most likely play in a Superbowl before we ever get there.

And Baker lost Evans to a pulled hammy on what would have been a sure TD and then that organization showed it's own stupidity by leaving in starters after the game was over, thus losing Godwin for the season with about a minute left in the game. Severely dislocated ankle. I had one of those in HS. It took months to regain my top speed, something Godwin relies on.

My gut feeling the day they made this trade, was DW was a marginal upgrade from BM. DW was definitely more mobile, but he wasn’t $230 million 6 draft picks more of an upgrade. Sometimes it just takes a QB to land in his comfort zone, just like Mayfield and Sam Darnold. There were 2 red flags on DW that I could never shake. One was his attitude which caused him to sit out his final year in Houston, and the second was his lack of desire to play for the Browns…until they gave him that fat contract. I now look at that contract as a tuition payment from Haslam. Let’s hope Jimmy learned something from that experience.

There was something there before this FO got their hands on him and set Baker free. Baker has way more fans on our board now than he had his last year here. Cleveland would have had him playing like he did in his 2nd and 4th seasons (albeit Matt Hasselbeck had that same injury on the opposite throwing shoulder and said it was the worst year of his career). Look what is possible for Baker today - does anyone think that was possible here this year with this roster and the playbook?

This FO will ruin anything else they touch at QB.

And yet, these geniuses ( Berry and Depodesta ) still have no doubt that they are the smartest in the NFL. When somebody says that fans are basically dumb, and can't possibly know as much as these " analytical " so called football people, I just roll my eyes. Any idiot could have seen this coming. Haslam?....how can any person have that much money, and still be this damn stupid?
