The RB room got a makeover in the draft. It's a room of new hope but yet melancholy because it's missing Nick Chubb.

Returning Players: Jerome Ford 5'10 210, Pierre Strong 5'11 215

Drafted Players: Quinshon Judkins 6'0 221, Dylan Sampson 5'8 200

	UDFA: Ahmani Marshall 6'2 225

	- FB Troy Hairston 5'11 245

So, not including the FB, there's 5 RB's. I think Marshall gets cut or gets to the PS...along with our ol' favorite John Kelly (not listed above).

That leaves 4...which is a good number for the room (5 with the FB). However I don't think that Pierre Strong fits geometrically. With Judkins, Ford & Sampson, we go down 2 inches and 10 lbs incrementally. Pierre would be the odd man out. ? Seriously though, Judkins would be the power runner, Sampson the change of pace (pass catcher also) and Jerome Ford could sub for either of those roles.

An argument could be made that there's room for another RB whether Strong is there or not. But is there room for Chubb. Yes, there is. But there's no 'place' for him. They drafted Judkins to replace Chubb. To bring back Chubb puts Judkins on the bench. I do not see that happening. [melancholy]

Now Sampson at 5'8 200 lbs is supposed to be the change of pace, pass catcher, speedster RB. But I can't find a 40 time for him. He didn't run the 40 at the combine (afraid to aggravate a late season hammy). He DID run the 40 at his Pro Day...but his time was not publicized and when questioned at the Pro Day he said that his 40 runs felt fast and smooth...but didn't say what the time was. Therefore, I'm thinking that he's actually not much faster than Judkins' 4.48 combine time. Otherwise his time would've found it's way out of somebody's mouth.

Jerome Ford. He surprised me one time last season. He had a breakaway run...and I noticed...that he can run friggin' FAST. He ran away from the defenders. Just like Chubb used to. But we're all aware that his running lane instincts are not great. Still though, he is here and will get some time on the field.

So not only will the QB position feature new headliners, the running game will be featuring the two new draft picks, Judkins & Sampson. Let's hope we can get guys blocked for the QB's & RB's. Because that's vital for success.

Sampson said at his pro day that one of his goals for that day wash to show everyone that he can run routes and catch passes. Supposedly he needs pass blocking coaching to better know where to go and how to get there. All of the draftees need coaching up in something or other. I'm excited to see these two guys play. And hoping the OL can get people blocked.

And his QB last year at TN was a red shirt freshman, who was a very gifted scrambler. My guess is he didn't have the checking down to the RB on his priority list yet especially given how well that kid could scoot himself. The pass protection keeps appearing on many of the scouting reports I've seen for Sampson.

I think Judkins and Sampson will make a fine tandem.
