Woodpeckers have a couple of anatomical features that prevent them from getting concussions, but the primary reason is that their brains are tiny thus not much there to be affected.
Tiny brains not a joke, and it may explain Woody.

Researchers in the helmet manufacturing industry have studied the woodpecker.

So you would assume based on brain size that many NFL players would be immune from concussions as well.

I don't know that we'll continue the cycle. The disdain the boomers have created could motivate a lot of us to prioritize what we legislate for our children. I think what's more likely is that we fuck over Gen X by taking away government pensions after the boomers are gone and then panic in 20 years, reimplementing them when we realize we're all retiring too.
