Chunk Formations and Chipping: Garrett noted that the Steelers frequently stayed in "chunk formations" (compact personnel groupings) to facilitate frequent chips—physical hits from tight ends or running backs—on every play before he could reach the quarterback.

Quick Passing Game: The Steelers' strategy relied on getting the ball out "as quick as possible". Garrett explained that the offensive scheme aimed to stay "on time" with quick passes over the middle and to the perimeter, leaving little time for the defensive line to affect the play.

Quarterback Mobility: Instead of traditional drop-backs, the Steelers' quarterback (Aaron Rodgers in this 2025 matchup) frequently sprinted out to the opposite side of the field or moved behind the line of scrimmage more than in previous years to escape Garrett's reach.

Slide Protections: The offensive line routinely "slid" their protection toward Garrett, ensuring multiple blockers were positioned to stop him. 

Garrett expressed frustration with the "script," stating that even if he beat his primary block, the combination of chips and the quick release of the ball made it nearly impossible to record a sack. He emphasized that the Browns must find ways to "get a lead" to force opponents into longer drop-back situations where his pass-rushing skills can be more effective.
