	An old black and white thriller. Jimmy Stewart, Ward Bond, Robert Young, Robert Stack.
</p>

<p>
	It's about a pre-WWII German village, and how a prominent family gets devastated by the rise of
</p>

<p>
	nazism. The acting is superb - the impending and overwhelming nazi dedication shows up quickly,
</p>

<p>
	with young men joining the nazi party and military with great zeal.
</p>

<p>
	  It also shows what happens when some refuse to dedicate themselves to that vicious movement.
</p>

<p>
	It Germans were not 100% loyal to the nazis, they were enemies - political arrests, beatings, threats, their

<p>
	power and "law" was dominant quickly.
</p>

<p>
	For me, it was hard to not see a similarity to the leftwing movement here in our America today.
</p>

<p>
	I will watch this movie again - recorded it. The film is loosely based on the novel of the same name.

Dennis was a British diplomat and an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MI6" title="MI6" rel="external nofollow">MI6</a> station head with responsibility for Austria, Hungary and Yugoslavia. In 1930, she moved to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich" title="Munich" rel="external nofollow">Munich</a>.
