	Most draft big boards ranked him at  11 - 13  (saw him as high as #5).  Obviously I'm happy as I've pounded the drum for him all year.  I wanted the best OLineman possible.  Trading with the Chiefs to pick him at #9 and getting their 3rd and 5th round picks softens the blow for the people that wanted one of the really good defensive players that we could've had (BPA).  --  It would be awfully nice if he would turn out to be the player that we hope he can be...but...it was Berry that drafted him and he's been lousy at evaluation OLinemen....so that's a little scary. <span><img src="https://brownsboard.com/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f642.png?v=00a0b17bbb1" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji--slightly_smiling_face" title=":slightly_smiling_face:" alt="🙂" /> </span>
</p>

<p>
	---------
</p>

<p>
	Utah’s Spencer Fano is one of the top offensive tackles in this year’s class, with a combination of size and athleticism that gives him a ton of potential at the next level. He could be the first player off the board at his position, and a possible top-five pick due to multiple teams with a huge need at that spot picking in that range.
</p>

<p>
	Here’s everything NFL fans need to know about Fano heading into this year’s draft:
</p>

<p>
	Spencer Fano’s Vitals  Height: 6-6    Weight: 308    Age: 21
</p>

<p>
	Spencer Fano’s Strengths<br />
	A highly experienced blocker with double-digit starts under his belt at both tackle spots, Fano has put a ton of quality reps on film against top competition. He’s an impressive overall athlete for his size, and shows ideal instincts and spatial awareness, getting to his landmarks efficiently and staying one step ahead of opposing defenders. He can be a punishing run blocker when he stays balanced and plays behind his pads, and he’s nimble enough to climb to the second level and erase back-seven defenders, doing the same when asked to lead or pull on counters and screens. Fano plays with a ton of effort, often pressing through the end of his reps and finishing strong through the whistle.
</p>

<p>
	Spencer Fano’s Weaknesses<br />
	Fano has a towering frame, but he’s a fairly high-cut player who can struggle to maintain proper pad level and leverage. His lean build can allow stronger defenders with a heftier base to get underneath and drive him off the ball, exposing a need for added bulk and power. Fano’s inconsistent functional strength is exacerbated at times by inconsistent hand usage and upper body technique, which can prevent him from effectively latching on and staying engaged with his defender through the entire rep.
</p>

<p>
	Final Analysis<br />
	There are some things to clean up here, but Fano brings a combination of physical and mental tools to the table that gives him a ton of upside at the next level. If he can improve his strength by adding some quality bulk to his lean frame, and polish his technique, Fano has the potential to be a Pro Bowler at either left or right tackle.

	I just watched his phone conversation with Berry, Monken and the son-in-law.  <strong>Berry told him flat out that he was going to be their LT</strong>.  It was cool when Berry told him that they were going to take him off the board now.  He thanked all three of them when each took over the phone.

	I think the Browns plan on him being the LT, and they could always pull a Will Campbell and move him somewhere else if it doesn't work out this season.

<p>
	It just shows how loyal JT was/is to 'his' people.  Being at the draft would've been 'about him'.  But doing what he's always done with 'his people' was way more important to him.  JT was one of the best draft picks we ever made.  It wasn't his fault that he couldn't throw touchdown passes while protecting the blind side.
</p>

<p>
	I don't know how good Fano will wind up being.  But I'll own the fact that I wanted him...for better or worse.  And since I live here in New England I'll get to watch Lomu also.

<h1>
	Spencer Fano wants to follow Joe Thomas' footsteps as Browns left tackle

<p>
	'Spencer Fano has a set answer for when people ask him about all-time left tackles.

<p>
	"Whenever anyone asks me who the best left tackle is of all time, I say <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/pro/browns/2023/07/31/cleveland-browns-left-tackle-joe-thomas-hall-of-fame-demarcus-ware-dwight-freeney-james-harrison-nfl/70418623007/" rel="external nofollow">Joe Thomas</a>," Fano said in a conference call April 23. "Yeah, I feel like I know the good amount about him over the last 10 years. … Excited to be able to learn from him." '

<p>
	<u><em>Fano pushes back on the notion of being a "right tackle."</em></u>
</p>

<p>
	<u><em>"Shoot, for me, I've been blessed to … I mean, in practice, even when I was at right tackle, I practiced some left," Fano said. "The challenge really is … I always told everybody I feel more comfortable where I'm taking the reps. From what I've been told, I'm going to be taking strictly left-tackle reps to get ready for this season</em></u>." '
