I found this article on the wokeness of The Odyssey. The author makes some good points. A lot of these classics like Homer and Shakespeare have been done and redone countless times. The goal should be to give it a fresh retelling. I’ll link the article below this quote from it.

No matter what you do on any artistic level. Be it movies, music.. plays , etc.. There's always going to be a faction of people who aren't happy.. It's the same with politics too... Everybody in their own mind has some interpretation that they favor over another.... Even I can admit to being guilty of some of those same things. Being a musician my entire life I look at it from both the artist perspective as well as being the fan who is also a consumer. You start off as a fan first. Then.. if you're lucky and inspiration hits you choose to pick up an instrument. It like anything else you choose in life it becomes your life blood. In most cases they either love you or they hate you... There's very little in between I think.. It seems like every 20 years or so there is a cultural shift that determines the current fad.. (Wokeism) (Hip Hop) (Alternative). Whatever the current vibe is. Trends come and go. By the same token.. As is life.. Trends are cyclical. And in the next decade or so something else will consume our attention... It's just how life is...It all comes back around... I hope that made some sense.. Even though it sounds rather vague lol..

P.S. There is also the demographic portion of this that weighs in as well... What audience is targeted... That also plays in to where the trend currently lies...

So many of them bitched about the movie based on the trailer and now it looks pretty good with box office success.
